What hasn't really been mentioned yet is the first hit of the inning. Yes, it was hard hit. Yes, it was rightly ruled a hit. But....the best shortstop in college didn't make the play. Their third baseman did.
Their defense has saved this starter. He'd already been chased except for three amazing plays. We haven't made the ones we should have.
I'm glad Tony moved Ahuna from lead off hitter-- he can hit, but also strikes out quite a bit. Also, maybe a DH? His errors are adding up, or maybe it just seems like more because they have made some big innings for the other team?
