You really never know. Neither Vandy nor Florida is lighting the world on fire this year, but Kentucky could easily lose a game in each of those series. That's just how SEC baseball works. Besides, do we not hold the tiebreaker over Kentucky thanks to our head-to-head win?Man we really could have used a Kentucky loss today. We would be leading the East with all things even but now we have to play 1 game better than them the final 6 games in order to secure a top 2 seed in the SECT. Even if we go 4-2 we would have to hope they go 3-3. And that’s just to tie them. If we want it outright then we need to play 2 games better. Best case is we finish 5-1 and they finish 3-3. I just don’t see that happening.
I take nothing for granted, not this time of year. Both VU and SC are fighting to get to 15, they ain’t just gonna roll over.Man we really could have used a Kentucky loss today. Yes we do hold the tiebreaker for seeding purposes but they would get to call themselves “co-East Champions” and get to hang a banner. I don’t want them to have that…You really never know. That’s exactly my fear. Worst case scenario we drop one of those series and end up going 3-3. Does anyone really think Kentucky will finish 1-5 for us to win it outright? I sure don’t…I take nothing for granted, not this time of year. Both VU and SC are fighting to get to 15, they ain’t just gonna roll over.
There will be no co-East champs banners hung…lol..regardless with A&M and Arky still playing one another it will be the mighty Vols or Kentucky winning the entire Sec…if it’s a shared title…then so be it…we will be the higher seeded team!Yes we do hold the tiebreaker for seeding purposes but they would get to call themselves “co-East Champions” and get to hang a banner. Kudos to Kentucky, they went 8-1 vs their West opponents while we went 6-3. That’s what you have to do if you want to win the conference. There have been several games we have let slip away and that’s the difference so far. We could be looking at having at minimum 20 conference wins right now but that’s how it goes.
You must not know Kentucky because they will do just that. They haven’t gotten to hang a banner since 2006.There will be no co-East champs banners hung…lol..regardless with A&M and Arky still playing one another it will be the mighty Vols or Kentucky winning the entire Sec…if it’s a shared title…then so be it…we will be the higher seeded team!
We also gave up 3 runs in the 8th to Alabama and 4 runs to Ole Miss in the 9th. And gave up 4 runs between the 7th/8th innings at Kentucky. That’s 3 wins right there if we just handle business late in games. We would be looking at 20-4 right now with a 2 game lead (essentially 3 game lead with the tiebreaker). Not sweeping that putrid Auburn team was rough. Almost unfathomable how bad they are.
They do not even put their years on their outfield wall like most. I think they have them listed on the supports underneath the concourse possibly but maybe they will do something if they win the Sec…they wouldn’t for just the East…I think they shared it with Bama in 2006. To my knowledge they have never won an outright Sec baseball regular season. With Vandy and Florida left I assume they will go 3-3 in those games. Vols can win 4 or 5 and keep them wishing for outright titles! You must not know Kentucky because they will do just that. They haven’t gotten to hang a banner since 2006.
And yet two of their three wins are against Tennessee and Arkansas. Funny how things work sometimes. Not sweeping that putrid Auburn team was rough. Almost unfathomable how bad they are.
I don’t see them losing to Vandy at home. Their pitching is well above average and Vandy’s offense is putrid on the road. They do not even put their years on their outfield wall like most.
