No. He was gone the second he was benched and let everyone know it. His agent was telling tony what days he was going to pitch according to McKee. He bought a purple glove for the CWS because he’d told everyone he was transferring to TCU. He wanted out bad.
Never denied any of that. But typically if you lose your job as a starter, that’s called getting benched. He never wanted to be a closer. Tony made the right choice, but chase was always going to leave as soon as that choice was made.He didn’t get benched - He got moved to the pen and became the best closer in college last year. He wasn’t getting it done as a starting pitching last year.
