One thing about our starting pitchers is that none of them really entered last season with a ton of fanfare, so the performance was a surprise. This year they are all coming in as expected top picks in future drafts. Hopefully not affecting performance.

Having to get 4 outs and throw extra pitches could be an issue.

Our guys have been squeezed a lot this season. I’m starting to think that’s playing to our issues. Whether it’s frustration and becoming mental, adding to pitch counts or having to put it dead center of the plate, thigh high to get a call. There’s been a lot of borderline pitches that you’d like to get now and then and they consistently seem to go against us. We’ve seen more 3-2 counts through 26.5 games than we saw all of last year.
