I'll be really pissed if we lose to a miss st team that's on a 9 game losing streak. That's right, they haven't won a game since January 22nd.

It's like investing money. Do you want to invest in a company that will have a short term gain and loss over the long term, or a loss on the short term and gain over the long term?

Yep. Its pretty clear to most people that Martin is not the answer. This team is very talented and he can't beat the teams he's supposed to. Imagine next year with everyone we have leaving. We might win 10 games next year if CM is still coach. No need to delay the inevitable imo. The sooner he is gone the sooner we can right this ship, but it is very obvious that Martin is just not a good coach. And at this point even if we make the tournament do you really think we win more than one game? I wouldn't bet on this team with this coach beating any team in the tournament.

I'm not on the "Fahr coach" bandwagon yet, because the season isn't over. I'm currently in the "wait and see" bandwagon. I'd love to have Bruce back, but we shouldn't count our current team out until it's truly over.

Would you give up on your kid's athletic teams this easily? I can imagine you telling a bunch of 8 year olds that they need to give up because they suck but next year may be better because the coach won't be back.

I've probably given more money to the university than you've made in your lifetime...I apologize to reasoned posters for being so abrupt and rude but people of this ilk bother me....

'losing' at this point in time is a means to an end....its a common practice in sports, business, and life...

Solid post.

This is not a team of 8 year olds, although the coach does resemble an 8 year old with some of his ingame adjustments.

It's pathetic how big of whiny quitters are on this board. Some people need to grow a pair and act like a man when things don't go right instead of all "I'm taking my ball and going home".

well said....a few examples include, the NBA draft lottery or rock climbing.....yes this includes expediting Martin out of a position I never thought he deserved in the first place............a somewhat more complex example is the stock market ....one that immediately comes to mind is when Warren Buffett bought 5% of IBM stock for Berkshire Hathaway in 2011 in hopes that it would drop or at least languish thus triggering activities which make the stock/company stronger on the whole and or in the long run...

Prediction: Vols by 10. If we win by less than 8 then the chance of advancing past the 2nd round in the SEC tourney is slim. There is talent but is there confidence?

You are right. We should sit back and enjoy losing and underachieving. God forbid, we improve by hiring a new coach.

I never said that, but to cry like a spoiled 5 year old in 20 different threads is a lot different from what you're saying. I want to win as much as the next guy, but I'm also not a self entitled prick who cries about it.

Did you want Dooley to win towards the end?

Yes, I did. After Mississippi State, he was done. I wanted to beat Missouri and fire Dooley.

I don't believe in rooting against your team, regardless of how much money you donate. "You play to win the game." A couple of games shouldn't change the outcome, and if you are familiar with sports, you can determine if a coach is good or not, even in victory. If people who give all the money are that influential, then they should make a call to Hart right now instead of rooting against the team.

Really? If that's the case then you're likely one of the bigger donors Tennessee has, which means you probably have talked to Hart and know exactly where this whole Martin and Pearl thing stands.

Care to share?

This should be a beat down at the Hump. If State beats this team, we should just pretend basketball doesn't exist in Knoxville. I think 68-50 UT win.

No...what that means is that in my corporate role as the managing partner with ORNL and other affiliated programs I was expected to have a active and healthy personal and professional relationship with the university....now that I'm retired it means I live in the woods in Campbell County, often going days without seeing another person, some days I don't wear pants and I talk to my pack of dogs and often they talk to me...

I've met and know Martin, Hart, and Pearl but only have a relationship with Pearl...if I asked him whats going on he's the kind of man who would probably feel obligated to tell me and that's why I would never ask...

Now RE the fiscal aspect...your profile says you're 24 so even if the Patel's are paying you the big money there at the 7-11 its not even close...
