The Official Tennessee NCAA Tournament Info Thread

"I believe in Trae Golden and Jarnell Stokes. The duo has fueled Tennessee’s five-game winning streak. On Saturday, Golden (32 points) and Stokes (20 points, 16 rebounds) -- along with Jordan McRae (23 points) --led the Vols to a 93-85 four-overtime road win over Texas A&M. The SEC is a very lukewarm league. Most teams have suffered surprising road losses. Few have compiled impressive runs. But Tennessee is playing its best basketball right now. There are no guarantees in the SEC tourney. The Vols aren’t in the dance right now, but they could be in a few weeks."

Beat Florida and then Georgia Saturday and I guarantee we'll be on a bunch of brackets.

Statsheet seems to like the SEC, they always had us getting more in than everyone last year...right now they have 5 SEC teams getting in, I like it.

Many people haven't updated their brackets in some time. Be interested to see if UT 'suddenly' appears on a bunch of brackets on the next go around of updates.

That's my issue with the bracketmatrix especially this time of year. Once we are a week or two away most update daily, but a lot of the brackets on the matrix haven't been updated in weeks.

Alot of those "brackets" are guys on message boards like CBSsports and ESPN. Kind of hard to take those seriously.

Updated after a great weekend for us. This is a make or break week for a ton of Bubble teams. Here's my teams I'll be watching.

Iowa State - Pretty much in the same boat Tennessee is in. They aren't on anybodies radar but are playing pretty hot right now with a HUGE game against Kansas coming up. if they somehow pull this out, they'll start getting some tournament talk.

Baylor - Has to win at West Virginia or it's close to being over. This is an interesting team because they can play with anyone in the country or just flat out suck on any given night. I just don't see a team losing 4 straight on the bubble being this close to the end of the season. If you look at their best wins, it is 3 bubble teams and a solid Okie State home win.

Also, Maryland, Arkansas and Saint John will be interesting to see. If either of these three teams lose, I wouldn't imagine hearing anything from them. Maryland has 2 huge wins and would have to go on a tear in the ACC tournament.

If we beat Florida, we will no doubt jump into the high 40's. Also, even though Georgia and Auburn have weak RPIs, road wins and the quality of opponents a few teams above us face will no doubt keep us steady or jumping even more. Our schedule and run is really working into our favor. If we drop the Florida game, then we should be more concerned with what other teams are doing. It's all up to us at this point :)

Will a 3-1 finish and 1 win in the SECT be enough to get us in?

It feels like I say this every year, and they always bomb out, but I think the SECT could set up nicely for UT. If UK was to get put out early and UT wins, Bridgestone would be like a UT home game.

It'd depend on who we beat in the SECT, but I'm not sure it'd be enough...probably bubble team sweating it on Sunday.

Of course we want to make it in, but I really don't want to have to be in 1 of the 2 play-in games. I think a 4-0 finish probably takes us off the "Last 4 In" line. 4-0 and 1 win in the SECT after a double bye would for sure get us out of the play-in games, IMO.

Let's just win them all so we don't have to worry :)

But seriously, Mizzou will likely come into Knoxville with huge momentum. I think it really depends on what happens at South Carolina. USCjr is a classic trap game for teams like this because they are playing for no chance of post season and Mizzou sucks it up on the road just enough to be upset. I'd love to see an Ole Miss 2.0 but I'd also like the win to mean more when they come to Knoxville.

UT moved up a spot to 55 after last nights games. Both Iowa State and 'Nova lost as well. Iowa State will be a force and is playing amazing ball right now.
