The Official Tennessee Shriners College Showdown Games Thread (Friday 2/16 8PM EST) (Sat. 2/17 8PM EST) (Sun. 2/18 7:30PM EST) (FLOBASEBALL TV)

Looks like Lady Vols beat Vandy in basketball. Not sure our softball Lady Vols will play given rain in Flawda. Hoping for some pissed off Tennessee hitters launching a total offensive assault tonight. Hang fiddy on Baylor or whoever we got tonight. See ya at 6:30.

I’m in Clearwater and it hasn’t stopped raining in two days.

Sounds a bit like they might have been concerned about a foreign substance?
I didn’t see it, so I don’t know for sure, but
I suspect the discoloration on the glove was from light to dark. The umpire likely thought the constrast was significant enough that there might be a distraction for the batter as he tried to pick up the pitch leaving the mound.

In addition to the sportsmanship aspect, there are also player safety concerns; that’s why no pitchers are not allowed allowed a white or light gray glove.

If it was foreign substance related, they’d have cleared him or tossed him, not made him change his glove.

Not at all. That was never a concern. The glove had gray color on it. As a pitcher you cannot wear a glove that is gray. That’s all it was. You can have a colored glove, but gray is one of the colors that is not allowed.

since Kirby‘s glove got in the game, does that mean he gets a half of an appearance? And if it gets in again tonight, does that count as the other half?
One out in a triple play * 1/2 appearance = (either 1/6th or .167, your choice) outs of a 1-6 triple play. Not too shabby for Kirby’s glove!

TV has been pretty loyal to his starters , I remember Lipscius and Russell struggling mightily and played almost every game , with the exception of a few walks Oklahoma pitching was pretty dang good , Burke will get it going , these major league stadiums have guys trying to do too much
