Tony publicly said that. When they started playing better at the end of last year, he said it took that group some time to gel and work their way through some issues.I listened to a podcast earlier in week that indicated there were some "distractions" in the locker room and dugout in 2023 early on. You could tell early on with all the eligibility controversy and slow pitching starts.
Agree with Stamos or Causey if we’re choosing a vet (based on very little data thus far, obviously). I’d lean Stamos. He’s a lefty and his stuff looks really good, even if he’s not the hardest thrower. It's early as we all know and players will need to settle in. If you had to make a decision today (which you don't), Sneads outing was too busy for me and not ready as a starter for SEC play. My 2 would be Causey & Stamos. What's good is that there are about 15 games or so before SEC play. Plenty of time to find out who that 3rd weekend guy is. Looks like ESPN+ is broadcasting all UT games this week.
I like your comments. In retrospect, I rethought Causey. Can't see him as a starter. I'm sure starting side-armers are at a minimum as a starter, actually, I can't think of one in my life at the MLB level. They seem to be set up guys. So for me, Causey is out as a starter but in as an effective reliever.Agree with Stamos or Causey if we’re choosing a vet (based on very little data thus far, obviously). I’d lean Stamos. BUT, I think Dallas and Shaeffer will have a say before the season is over. Wouid’t surprise me to see one of those two as the 3rd starter by SEC play. Dallas will be stretched out by then. I think they bring the most upside.
