The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Big news for Thursday night!

2 plays a int avoidable and a easy td, and a fumble are the 2 reasons this remained a close game.
The Titans will be playing better teams including Steelers so they'll need to play better because unlikely to win those games with those kind of awful mistakes.

Jags only play one more team with a winning record until they play us at the end of the season.

We still have to face the Steelers and the rams.

We need some help.

The way I see it we could go on another 4 game win streak after the Steelers game (Assuming worst case scenario happens and we lose this Thursday). If that happens we'll be at 10 wins and I'd like to think we would beat one of the Rams or Jags in the final two games, getting us to 11. If that last win is against the Jags and they end up with the same record as us, we win the division and we're in regardless.

That's a lot of hypotheticals, though.

I'm a little suprised no one noticed our own clock people almost screwed us today. the play after the intentional grounding, they didn't run the clock. the play by play guys didn't even notice.
I can't believe no one here noticed.

also Adoree Jackson had his best game as a Pro.

The Bengals used a timeout to negate the ten second runoff.

Adoree is a baller.

Just got home from the game and had an awesome time despite it being cold and rainy. The game was close all game. I thought I got to see Corey Davis' first TD but sadly he fumbled it but its coming though. When Green scored that TD my heart stopped thinking they won the game. It stopped again when Mariota got injured on that scramble on the final drive as well. When Walker got hit and no flag the whole stadium erupted, I lost my voice screaming at the ref on that play. Thankfully we pulled it out, now onto Pittsburg!

How was the crowd? Were they pretty into it? I never really think of us having a great home field advantage.

I was at the game as well...there were a lot of Bengals fans and empty seats (likely due to the weather) but the Titans fans that were there were loud. Big test coming up on Thursday with Mariota and Walker banged up but a win would put us in the contender conversation.

I fully expect it to be an ugly, hard fought football game. These two teams seem to mirror one another IMO. Both are gritty. Defense might be the difference maker in this one Thursday night

It wasn't terribly full (thanks to the cold and wet) but crowd got loud a lot. Probably the loudest was that hit on Walker that didn't get flagged and than after the ref explained we had to burn a TO for that as well.

I know we’re a run first team and I know MM threw it 44 tines Sunday, but I feel the staff needs to trust him more throwing the ball. Way too may time Sunday and most of the year we get way too conservative. Need to throw it more on 1st and 2nd downs especially when the run game isn’t clicking.

They need to do a better job of helping him get into a rhythm. I mean, I understand going ultra conservative when the ground game is working and we're just running people over, which is largely what we did last year. And sure, I love that style of ball, but the rushing attack hasn't been nearly as dominant this season.

The coaches have got to adapt and learn how to better utilize his strengths, and no, I don't mean 4 or 5 designed quarterback runs per game (which will probably get him killed eventually), I mean more 3 and 4 wide sets with an emphasis on intermediate routes with some short passes sprinkled in. I don't hate Mularkey as a coach, but one thing I am starting to believe is that he and Mariota simply do not fit together. I was hopeful from his time as Atlanta's offensive coordinator that his philosophy might change with his personnel and he'd open things up, but it appears as though he has fully embraced the 3 yards and a cloud of dust model ala Jeff Fisher.

It's like having a camaro and treating it like a cadillac. Sure, both are good cars, but Jesus gramps, let's see what the camaro can do.

We have a great shot at the playoffs this season, and I highly doubt Mularkey is let go if we make the postseason. If we miss the playoffs or if Mularkey doesn't take the next step next season, bring me McDaniels.

I understand where you're coming from, and I agree to a certain extent, but I hope to never see Mariota throw it 40+ times again. I know we have more weapons at WR and TE this year than in the past, but our offense isn't really built for it. Marcus is at his best (Generally speaking) on playaction passes and in order to set that up we need to be able to prove to the defense that we're committed to the run game.

On a similar note, and I don't have any research to back this up, but it seems like we have more success on the ground when we utilize a lead blocker like Fowler or Smith. I'm a big advocate of getting the fullback more involved and letting our halfback have someone to run behind.

Tomorrow night has playoff seeding implications written all over it IMO

We could really get a lot of separation the next few weeks as well. Get a W tomorrow night and it should be a while before we lose again if we play well. No reason to not win the next after Pittsburgh IMO

If we beat the Steelers I am willing to say that we are a good tram.

Don’t have cable, use Hulu live. Hopefully News Channel 5 Nashville plays the game or I won’t be able to watch 😐

If you have the NFL mobile app, you should be able to catch it on there. I know it’s not the same as watching it on a TV screen but beats nothing.
