What does him throwing the ball twice have to do with a loss of down?

Probably because most people assumed it was an illegal forward pass which is a loss of down if beyond the line of scrimmage. I didn't know there's a different rule if it's batted back to you behind the LOS.

While it helped the Titans, it's pretty stupid IMO to have that disctinction.
