The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

If you had told me at the start of the season that we would have one of the top ranked defenses in the league I'd call you crazy. Dean Pees has worked miracles with this group.

I'm honestly not all that surprised by the D. It was always a solid group on paper; it was Pees I had concerns about. Following a living legend in Lebeau seemed an insurmountable task, but he's done a masterful job. Vrabel probably deserves a bunch of credit for the D as well.

The best part is our window is just opening. We have elite young talent all over the field and we have tons of cap space. The next few seasons could be special.

Just to play devil's advocate who is the elite talent? Marcus (needs to stay healthy), Lewan, Davis (I think he is on his way), Casey, and Byard are the only guys I see. We have guys who could develop into truly elite talent (Jackson, Landry, Evans) but for the most part we are stacked with average veteran ability. One guy who I wold have put in the elite category would have been Conklin but he has regressed a lot, not sure if its the ACL still or what but since he left the Dallas game our o-line play has improved.

My prediction the Titans make a impressive terrific statement defeating the Patriots in a exciting wonderful unforgettable dramatic close game 28-21, the Titans win TOP mostly with Mariota throwing the football, Mariota runs when needed, also Henry and Lewis are a 2 headed Monster that combine for more than 120 yards running, the Titans play a full great game, Mariota runs for a touchdown, Mariota passes 2 touchdowns, and Henry runs for a touchdown.

The Titans mostly proved my prediction right and in other ways was better than my perdition including the score.

The Titans made a impressive terrific statement by defeating the Patriots in a exciting unforgettable dramatic close game which was close till it became a laugher in the 2nd half and made awful with Titans long drive that finished with Henry easily ran for his 2nd td.
Titans did win TOP which was mostly because of Mariota throwing the ball, he ran when he had to, Henry and Lewis were a 2 headed monster while they didn't combine for over 120 yards still both combined for 115 yards which was terrific, Henry did better than I predicted ran for 2 touchdowns no sweat no 1 touchdown, Mariota didn't run for 1 touchdown instead 0 so wrong for that 1, right about Mariota throwing 2 touchdowns both that were terrific, the Titans did play a full great game which is exactly why they scored first and always lead after scoring first in this game.

Not the 28-21 high scoring game I predicted with the Titans instead damn better because without sweating and without a challenge since Patriots never lead in this game, and were outplayed for the entire game winning in a game that became bad in the first half, then become dreadful in the 2nd half with the worst being Titans scoring 4th touchdown the soul crusher to make the score 34-10.

The Patriots gave the hell up and quit after being frustrated, embarrassed, scorched, dominated, demoralized, and steamrolled by the Titans since Hoyer was used after the Titans scored their fourth touchdown to make the score 34-10 in the 4th.

I think Lewan, Conklin (fully expect him to return to form), and Casey are definitely elite. I would include Walker in that as well if he comes back strong even in spite of his age.

Davis, Byard, Jackson, and 'possibly' Landry have elite potential. Some might say Byard already is.

Mariota is not yet anywhere near elite, but he is one of the franchise cornerstones and could end up being, at the very least, a very good quarterback before it's all said and done.

Guys like Lewis, Ryan, Henry, Woodyard, and Rak are nice complementary pieces; the caliber of which we will likely have to shuffle and replace as the years go by.

Given how young most of these guys are and their potential, I tend to agree with dd about our core group of guys, particularly Lewan, Mariota, Conklin, Casey, Davis, Byard, and Jackson. Idk how many of them are truly "elite" or will become elite, but I do believe letting that group simmer together into a real nucleus under this coaching staff can potentially yield some very good results.

We felt good after 3-1 and completely dropped the call. I’ll start to believe more if we win these next two games. Drop them and we will have undone all our progress.

I actually agree. Mainly this next one. Really hoping we avoid a letdown this week. Even if we lose, I at least hope we play well and don’t just totally crap the bed like we did in Buffalo.

In reality, I think we split these next 2 games.

My game prediction is the Titans make a statement finally defeating Luck with the Titans playing a full great game in a dramatic exciting great close game winning 31-24, the Titans defense has 1 interception, Mariota runs for 1 touchdown, Mariota throws 1 touchdown, Henry runs for 1 touchdown, and Lewis runs for 1 touchdown.
The Titans win Top mostly with Mariota throwing the football, Mariota runs when needed, also Lewis and Henry are the titanic 2 combining for more than 130 yards running.

The Titans have no issue playing Luck and the Colts in close games except haven't finished mostly the 2nd half with making great plays when needed most, and I'm confident today the Titans finally break the hell through.

I'm watching the game and other games today at Varsity Sports Cafe and Roman Coin Pizza.

Never beaten Luck. More than a tad worried.

Should be it's like he is the Football Houdini vs Titans.

New CBS NFL Intro is shorter than the Glass breaking intro so while still terrific really wish that the previews NFL on CBS intro involving glass breaking was still used.
