We needed the depth and competition of draft picks that we squandered on a project.

Then stupidly we trade another pick away this year thinking we needed a piece to compete. We're way past a piece or two compete.

Mariota doesn't make good decisions.

I am in the group that thinks it would be a bad decision to sign Mariota to an extension but...at the same time what do we do then?

You can't blame this game on Mariota tonight. Anyone watching knows the guy is attempting to overcome terrible offensive line play. Also, Texan's offensive coordinator is killing Pees right now. Watson has had plenty of open receivers to throw to tonight.

He has had the opportunity to throw it to his check down on at least 3 of these sacks though. But yes, the line hasn't done him any favors.

Gonna have to replace Orakpo probably, he looks like hes lost a step. Need another difference maker at WR. Need major OL help. Butler ain't cutting it and need another DB. Henry looks like turds at RB and need help there too probably.

Totally agreed. Pass rusher could have been close to fixed by resigning one of Orakapo or Morgan for depth and trading some picks for Mack. Interior offensive line can be solved in either the 2nd round or free agency. I'd cut butler and ride with Logan and Adoree and hope the pash rush makes them better. I think Henry and Lewis are average enough to get it done. I wouldn't spend a high pick on RB again.

That's the problem, Mariota has a decent arm and can buy some time as well as run but he can't stay healthy, isn't a great leader and he makes some bad decisions at times.

Do you trade the known commodity for the unknown? Franchise qb's are more bust than jackpot.

No, not his fault completely but he doesn't get rid of the ball when he should. He's slow to read and doesn't anticipate well.
