What worries me is that Vrabel strikes me as the stubborn type. I hope he doesn’t have to be dragged kicking and screaming into hiring someone.

Ryan and Jackson are huge losses, but I don’t think the loss of Pees can be understated. He practically schemed us a pass rush from scratch while he was here.

Also, a big loss that doesn’t get enough attention is Jurrell Casey. That was a really dumb move IMO. He was a franchise cornerstone.

I think the next tiebreaker is record against conference opponents or record against common opponents.

If we end the season tied then it goes to best win/loss % in common games played. So we've both played the following:

Vikings - Both teams with a win
Steelers - Titans loss, Colts play 12/27
Bengals - Titans loss, Colts win
Bears - Both teams win
Ravens - Titans win, Colts loss
Browns - Both teams lost
Lions - Titans play 12/20, Colts win
Packers - Titans play 12/27, Colts win

Today obviously sucked but with the Jags and Lions coming up we should be 10-4 going into that Sunday night game against the Packers.

So (presuming both the Titans and Colts ended with the same overall and divisional records):

the Colts would have to lose to the Steelers AND the Titans would have to beat BOTH the Lions and Packers just to force it into the next tiebreaker.

Which would be overall AFC conference records.

I doubt it happens, but I hope we can lock Corey Davis up for a modest deal. He's a really solid target. Better than a #2, but not quite a #1. In fact, I'd say he an AJ both are solid "1.5's" so to speak. They compliment each other perfectly. Really this whole offensive unit of Henry, Tannehill, Brown, Davis, and Smith is incredible together. It's maddening that we'd likely be one of the top 3 teams in the league if we had any kind of legitimate defense.

Agree completely. Disappointed in Humphries so far. I expected more production minus the injuries and drops.

It's all about the D. Doctor, cure thyself. Vrabel bought into his own defensive mindset and it is costing the team this year. J-Rob and Amy should have said no to it. Never liked the idea from the beginning. Be a HC with influence over the D, but hire the best available for the job and let them do it.

The chosen DC can bring and entice his type guys to sign with the team. We saw the bust of Beasley and in reality, Clowney. Both were expected busts the day they signed. We had hope they would work out, but that's all it was - hope. That's all on Vrabel as well as J-Rob for making it happen. It also hurts that Adoree' is out - but you face that as a team every year with a few key players. Have to be prepared.

I just don't think we make a run this year. Likely an early exit from the playoffs. The moves that need to be made are:

Hire DC

Either through draft or FA address:

DE/LB
CB
OL
WR
Back up QB
TE

They could make a serious run next year with the right changes but that window closes quick. If it doesn't happen in the next two years it likely won't.

We have key injuries in 4 of the 6 positions you listed. Need to get healthy.

Hard to say. This team looks great then looks not so great but when they are on I think they can beat anyone. And obviously lose to anyone if they aren't. I'd like to win the division simply because I just don't think the Colts are a better team.

Tart suspended for the next game by the league for his unsportsmanlike penalty. Great, another depth guy at a critical position gone.

Injuries, Vrabel being the DC, and an inconsistent kicker are killing this season. Maybe they will limp into the playoffs and get healthier and hot.
