The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

I think this is a great point that is so often misunderstood or just flat out ignored. I would rather have a great QB than a great arm or great athlete. Manning and Brady were great QBs and each had a good arm. But their greatness came from preparing relentlessly and working on their craft.
Agree to an extent, the "wiring" of their football mind is important as well. Some QB's could study their craft for years with all the same tools and never be as good as those two examples.

Levis for instance is just wound too tight naturally. Emotionally as well.

With every passing day it looks more and more like we are going Cam Ward............ I'm not completely against going Cam, I just don't think he's one of the top 5-8 prospects in this class.

I do not like passing on better prospects to take the QB because we need one for two reasons. #1 is obvious, you want to take the best prospect you can possibly get. #2 if you have to have a QB you've neglected to address the position and given yourself no options. No one to mentor your young investment.

With Will Levis as his main competition you are guaranteeing you have to throw this young man into the game whether he is prepared or equipped to. You are setting him up for a likely fail.

Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix started from Day 1.

Did these teams have similar roster issues as ours does?

I've heard from many, if not most analysts that none of these QB's would be selected first round if talent like last year's was available in this draft.

All things considered, I think it a mistake to start any of these guys (QB's available in this draft), day one. When a QB (premium position) isn't consistently a top 5 best available player there are question marks and doubts.

QB is a crap shoot anyway, in a down year, in a down draft at the QB position, not going in with competent starting QB to at least mentor is a mistake.

WSH was pretty bad. No one expected a NFCCG appearance or even making the playoffs (IIRC, most pundits had them at 4-5 wins and another Top 5 pick) . A great QB can hide a lot of flaws.

Thx, you worded that better than me.

Point remains, those two are better QBs than Levis and would generate a more premium draft pick. Of course, Jerry is dumb so who knows.....
Pickett definitely hasn't been a better QB than Levis thus far, despite playing for a much better team. But I would agree that Howell is a better QB.

I doubt Jerry trades for a backup when he can draft one on day 3 or sign a UDFA. Will Grier is currently the backup but nobody is excited about that any more than they would be having Levis as backup.
Cowboys definitely aren't trading for Levis now that they've traded for Milton, but they were never gonna let a rookie QB be their primary back-up given Dak's injury history.

I see the Titans have cancelled their private workout with Shedeur. Not sure if that means they are not drafting him or what, but I think it would be a good indicator their decision is already made.

Well really the only reason he's in Dallas is because that's where he wanted to be. They had better offers from other teams but chose to send him where he wanted to go.

I call BS. This is PR Spin 101 when you get an underwhelming return...

Pats trying to justify moving up only ~ 45 spots from beginning of 7th to the compensatory section after the 5th round when they thought they'd get an early D3 pick for him...

Well Joe did say he grew up a Cowboys fan and his mom loved the Cowboys and it was his dream to play for them. But go off.

Im not doubting his love for them. But if you think the Patriots actually took a significantly worse offer....

It's the exact same line the Bears gave when they traded Fields last offseason for scraps...

Joe was a 6th round pick, not a 1st lol

193rd pick of 257. Way different situation, but go off

Which is still higher than when they drafted him…
