I think we have a chance against the Saints. They don't play well away from the Superdome.

Exactly. They lost to the Abysmal Rams, and Brees for that game looked more like Grossman.

As for how the Titans beat the Saints. Get pressure on Brees or it's going to be a repeat of what Ryan and the Falcons did to the Titans.
Contain Ingram, and DSprolles, plus wrs Grahm, Moore, Meechim, etc.
Score 30 or more points.
Score first getting momentum with Chris Johnson running. Get the lead, and protect it. If the Saints can't get contain Chris Johnson for the 1st half it's going to be a long game.

We can't contain the Saints to 13 points like we did to the Ravens but if we can repeat that kind of defense performance but score more than 2 tds, Chris Johnson running like he did today than the Saints will have a hard time winning.

I predicted Titans would win 30-20 over the Bills. Wrong about the score but Titans still won, CJ had a monster game with two tds, Titans D produced two fumbles, and Stevie Johnson was conatined compared to what he did in
the 2nd Jets game.

After thinking about this more, Nate Washington is really having a great season. I gained a lot of respect for him yesterday for trying to play through his injury. He made that huge catch on 3rd down after hurting himself and he refused to stay off the field. The injury finally caught up with him, but I was thoroughly impressed with Nate and his refuse to lose attitude.

And my man-crush on Colin McCarthy continues. After waxing poetic about him for the last month (and groaning over Barrett Ruud), he showed up big again yesterday. Folks, we have our MLB of the present and future. Talk about a value pick in the draft...Klug and Casey also had nice games yesterday. And haven't mentioned him much this year, but Sen'Derrick Marks has played well over the last month, as has Will Witherspoon.

Sort of irrelevant point here (like most of my posts), but the Fox broadcast crew for the game this week will be Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. I'm not a Joe Buck fan (are there any?), but hey, they're sending their A-team to Nashville which doesn't happen very often.

Weather forecast looks good for Sunday.

I wasn't here during the game, what was the consensus over that review? Awful call.

There was another one in the Giants-Packers game that was just about as retarded.

I'm about to be off the replay bandwagon. I think they should have to watch the replays at full speed.

There are several teams at 7-5 fighting for the 6th seed. Only one (Cincinatti) holds a tiebreaker with the Titans. Really, whoever has the best record in the 4th quarter of the season wins the playoff spot. IMO, the Titans are in control of their own destiny. I truly believe the Bengals lose at least two of their last four.

There's really no need to be overly pessimistic or overly optimistic at this point. Anything can happen. Just enjoy it! Lord knows we're all tired of the rain cloud following around Tennessee football teams. It's nice to have meaningful games in December again!

Tennessee

@Indianapolis
Jacksonville
@Houston

Cincinnati
Houston
@St. Louis
Arizona
Baltimore

Oakland
@Green Bay
Detroit
@Kansas City
San Diego

New York Jets
Kansas City
@Philadelphia
New York Giants
Miami

Just looking at these, they all seem about equal to me. Going to be a close race. 3-1 should lock up a Wild Card spot.

Thank you for posting that breakdown. Looking at those schedules, my initial reaction is that the Jets have the toughest schedule, although three are at home. Oakland's is tough w/ GB and DET consecutively, Cinci should lose at least two (though I'd consider STL and AZ wins). The Titans have two tough games with NO and HOU, and historically have issues w/ Jacksonville. You know, Houston might shut it down in Week 17 to rest. Maybe Baltimore might do the same vs Cinci, but the best everyone can hope for is that Houston wins the next three and rests in week 17 and Pittsburgh and Baltimore keep fighting for the AFC North which makes the Balt/Cinci game a must win for both teams. I believe we hold tiebreakers over OAK and NYJ.

So, bottom line is that, IMO, no one really holds an advantage over anyone else. The Titans pretty much control their own destiny still. I don't see a reason to be pessimistic about anything. The more I think about it, the more I believe the Titans win the last three. I'll take the same approach to this week vs the Saints as I did vs the Ravens way back in week 2.

Which is what?

Excellent News is Titans are not taking any more time to celebrate their last win. Focusing on Slowing down the Amazing Drew Brees, and the Saints.

Tennesse Titans Football | Titans’ Secondary Faces Stiff Test Against Brees

Trent Dilfer Picked the Titans as the team to win the 6th seed for the last playoff spot in the AFC.
Titans are 4-0 this year when CJ Runs for more than 100 yards.

I admit it I'll be watching the Jags play the Bolts because both teams are a mess it's hard to look away.

The Titans destiny for the 6th seed is in their hands. I couldn't ask for anymore from this team at the 12 game mark. I honestly thought this would be a 6-10 or 7-9(which could still happen, but isn't likely) season.

Eddie George: Titans most likely to get the last wildcard spot.

Biased? Meh. Don't care :)

I don't like his comment about the Titans "finding their offense with CJ back to form." I don't think CJ has been the issue all year. I think with his running style, he just needs run blocking to give him a bit of a hole to start with, and he turns it into much more. He's not an Adrian Peterson type back that can make something out of nothing, so when we play crappy run defenses like Carolina or Tampa, he runs wild. When we play imposing run defenses like Baltimore or Atlanta, he gets completely stifled.

Colin McCarthy named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Got some new beasts on defense and the Titans have one of, if not the youngest defense in the NFL.

And Mccarthy can show how hard he can hit going vs Ingram, and Sprolles. Would not be surprised if he hit Ingram so hard he knocks the ball out of Ingrams hands, and his helment off.
Morgan I think could be the 2nd Jevon Kearse. Made a amazing stop on the Titans goal line stand vs the Broncos.
Verner is a very underrated CB.

Titans D has a chance to make a statement vs the bigshot Saints, and the one and only Drees Brees.
Ideal start for the Titans is to score tds on their first 3 possessions, Intercept Brees early, and get pressure on him.

I think Brees is going to expose this defense. I really hope we can get pressure on him early and fluster him.

Schaub and the Texans already exposed the defense. Even without Andre the Giant Johnson Texans still scorched the Titans secondary.
Matt Ryan and the Falcons also exposed the Titans.

In both those games there was 0 pressure they could have ate all a twinkee, and still complete throwing the ball. That's how bad it was.
With the Return of Saints LB Vilma Titans RB Chris Johnson can show he has returned. The Bucs and Panthers are two of the worst teams for rush d, and the Bills can't stop the run.

This could be a leap, but McCarthy might have been a DROY candidate had he started from day 1. It would've been a risky proposition to immediately start a 4th round draft pick to be the QB of the defense and Ruud has probably taught McCarthy some things about being a pro, but this guy is awesome. So pleased he's a Titan. He's playing at a very high level right now and the defense has improved with him on the field.

Hey, miamicane, you guys got anymore of these dudes like McCarthy hanging out down there? :)

Interesting convo on 104.5 right now regarding the perceived lack of buzz about the Titans this year.

Couple of theories people are saying is that there aren't many players that people love and that the team lacks star power. I tend to agree since the team is so young. However, I think Colin McCarthy (here I go again) is going to be a star and will sell a lot of jerseys. I don't buy jerseys, but whatever. Hasselbeck is a rental and not the future of the franchise and just keeping the seat warm for Locker, who, IMO, will be hugely popular if he wins. CJ had the holdout, so a lot of people still have a bad taste over that and his start to the season, and Britt, albeit a big playmaker, can't stay out of trouble or on the field. Finnegan, the only defender with star power, is regarded as a punk by many, as well. And there have been so many controversies over the last couple of years, I think this team is kind of boring.

All that being said, I just think the team hasn't been consistently good since the McNair years. Lot of love/hate for Vince, lot of 5 game losing streaks, Pacman Jones, boring Fisher ball, the failed Randy Moss experiment...If the team starts to consistently win again and is a threat to regularly win, the buzz will return. Good thing they still sell out. Fact is, people don't like losers and they've only had two playoff appearances and no playoff wins since 2003.

Short and simple answer, and Al Davis said it best: Just win baby.

Dont forget about Akeem Ayers.

104.5 is really focusing on the discussion regarding the Colts releasing Peyton and saying the Titans should pick him up if he hits the open market. I have to agree. PM in Tennessee transcends Xs and Os. As much as I like Hasselbeck, bringing in PM (if healthy), would be huge for marketing, jersey sales, and overall excitement. Media coverage, increased concessions on game days from a full LP...The season would sell out in 10 minutes when individual game tickets go on sale again instead of lasting into the season. Hopefully the team could capture some of the late adopters and Vol holdouts.

I think it's a move the Titans should make. It makes too much sense on the business side. Opening up the wallet for PM would immediately pay itself off in a number of ways for the Titans, IMO.
