To look at the other end of the spectrum this week, if the titans do not make the playoffs, they currently have the weakest SOS (the draft pick tiebreaker) of all the 7-8 and 8-7 teams. It is currently (before the start of week 17) as follows:
Seattle 7-8 121-119
San Diego 7-8 124-116
Philadelphia 7-8 117-123
Chicago 7-8 128-112
Arizona 7-8 114-136
Tennessee 8-7 112-128
Oakland 8-7 121-119
New York Jets 8-7 118-122
New York Giants 8-7 125-115
Denver 8-7 124-116
Dallas 8-7 113-127
Should the Titans lose to the Texans next week, they would be eligible for at best the 13th pick overall (one of these teams will receive the 12th overall pick, however since Seattle and Arizona play each other this weekend, the Titans can't get said pick).
If such scenario were to end up playing out this weekend it would probably be most beneficial to the titans' draft position for - of these teams - the Cowboys to beat the Giants, Seattle to beat Arizona, and San Diego to beat Oakland. (and of course, Philadelphia and Chicago winning their games this weekend)
I'll look at it more a bit tomorrow or so, but I think the titans' SOS can only vary by about 4 games (2 from Houston, 1 from DEN, 1 from BUF). If correct, then the only teams that could possibly end up with SOS tiebreaker over the Titans would be the Cowboys or the Cardinals
Likely this means a loss to Houston could result in anywhere from a 13th to 18th pick. A win over Houston (and missing the playoffs) could possibly result in anywhere from a 17th to 20th (or so)
