TEN: [WC] TEN win AND CIN loss AND ((DEN win AND OAK win) OR NYJ win)

So is that what has to happen for us to get in? If so it is possible we could sneak in.

Terrific game for Cook. Took advantage of a huge mismatch thought he was going to run over the ref on the td came close, had another catch before the Titans 2nd td, and completely uncovered on the 29 yard pass to late in the game. Offensive player of the game Jared Cook.

There are many possibilties but the best one with is the one that requires only three to happen.

Titans beat the Texans
For Help Jets beat Dolphins, Ravens beat Bengals, and Chargers beat Raiders.

Tennessee clinches playoff spot with:
1. TEN win + CIN loss + NYJ win + either OAK loss or tie or DEN loss or tie OR
2. TEN win + CIN loss + DEN win + OAK win + NYJ loss or tie.

To make the Simple

Scenario One
The Titans must win
The Bengals must lose
Jets Win
Either Broncos or Raiders lose

Scenario Two
The Titans Must win
Bengals Must Lose
Both Broncos and Raiders win
Jets lose

I just wanted to say that I got my first ever jersey for Christmas and its a Finnegan one. Now I just hope we re-sign him this off season.

I know but I just can't see us letting our best defensive player go. At least franchise him and talk about a new contract, we let him walk we just have that much longer to rebuild the defense.

I hope we do. He's my favorite Titan

Lol no offense, but you didn't make it simple. You just restated what he said verbatim.

Can anyone explain why the tiebreaker scenario doesn't work with the Jets winning in the second scenario? I thought we were 2 games up on them in conference record a couple weeks ago.

Also, I thought we were tied with Oakland in conference record. Do we have a higher strength of victory or something?

Frank Wychek made a good point regarding fan disappointment with Chris Johnson this morning... He stated that he thinks since CJ wanted "playmaker" and "QB" money during his holdout, his overall performance in the running and passing game hasn't justified "playmaker" money. I agree. Although I think the offensive line has been very poor in the run game this season, CJ has been pretty bad catching the ball out of the backfield this year and he hasn't made any plays in the open field, either. Case in point: He should be able to juke one guy in the open field vs New Orleans that would've given the team a first down rather than 3rd and 1. That's only one example, there are several others (including many dropped passes or other open-field opportunities). I think his season is a disappointment regardless of the standard you use to measure it. Still, let's not pass judgment on his future just yet. I think he's got great seasons left and, with an improvement in the interior line and full offseason in Nashville, we ought to see him be great again.

Also a lot of talk regarding empty seats this weekend. I have mixed feelings on the matter, but it doesn't bother me a ton. I can honestly say that we have a blast at every game and if there are a lot of people that want to pay for the tickets and not show up, whatever. I think it's a huge waste of money to pay and not go, but it's their cash. The team has been better than everyone thought back in July and there is still a good chance to make the playoffs. In fact, the team has gotten to this position without the most dangerous offensive player (Britt) and highest-paid player (CJ) playing poorly. Who would have thought that the team would be 8-7 in Week 17 without Britt and with CJ having a terrible year?

I feel great about this season when I compare it to expectations back in late July/early August. No one thought the Titans were going to contend for the playoffs back then and now there are people b*tching about them not being 9-6 or 10-5? Fickle bunch...

Case in point: He should be able to juke one guy in the open field vs New Orleans that would've given the team a first down rather than 3rd and 1.

More importantly, he should have realized where he was on the field and kept running straight for the easy 1st down without even trying to juke. I can't blame him, though, as if he had evaded the tackle, it was a likely TD.

HS, the guy he "should have juked" is a Pro Bowl caliber safety in Malcolm Jenkins.

It's not like it was a scrub he didn't juke.

If he considers himself the best playmaker in the game he should be able to juke just about anyone in the open field, including Malcolm Jenkins. My point is that he held out for elite "playmaker" money and isn't coming close to living up to that status. There was his chance to make a big play that could've led to a huge upset W and he didn't make the play. And I'd say, unequivocally, he would've left Jenkins tackling air in 2009 and early 2010.

I'm definitely not hating on CJ. I'm just saying he definitely has not performed to anyone's expectations or his contract. I think the Titans were right to give him the contract at the time, even if it looks foolish now. But Malcolm Jenkins doesn't make that play, in space, if the CJ that earned $30 million guaranteed was still the same CJ.

I see 5 likely wins, 4 likely losses, a 50/50 vs Tampa @ home, and the division schedule. The division schedule is a toss up, IMO. The Titans will NOT go winless in the division. I think a safe assumption is 2 wins, with the possibility of stealing one or two more. 7 wins is the lower end of the spectrum, IMO. I can see 9 if things go well. Worst case, I think, is 5 wins. If that happens, Locker is playing a lot.

Overall, the schedule looks soft. Carolina, Cincy, Buffalo, Cleveland (who are getting better), and the Broncos (who did beat us last year) are games that, IMO, we can reasonably expect to win. I know they're probably thinking the same thing about the Titans, too.

Pretty realistic, even for a homer, no?
Big homer picks, I think you win 1 division game. I am saying something like 5-11. If things go perfect you win 7, 7 is not the lower end of the spectrum. 7 is the highest end of the spectrum.

Here is the exchange that led to the volfanjustin Titans-love avatar. Looks pretty non-homerish to me. Was wrong on Baltimore (Titans won) and Cincinnati (Titans lost). Overall, I'll take it.

EDIT: These picks were made well into the preseason. Before the preseason, I was expecting no more than 7 wins, with 4 or 5 more likely.

Anybody else worried about the rumors of PSU pursuing Munchak hard? I don't think Munchak would leave, as he's been with the Titans for so many years, but it is his alma mater....

I'm not concerned for two reasons:

A.) I think he has the job he wants
B.) If he does jump ship, we'll find another coach and keep playing in Nashville.

If he goes, he goes. If he stays, he stays. If he goes, I'll wish him the best and if he stays, I want him to win. I have the same policy with Dooley.

I really think he stays, though. I can't see Munchak being remotely interested in recruiting or managing 18-22 year olds. His mantra is "Be A Pro". That wouldn't be his mantra at Penn State.

I would be sad to see Munch go at this time. It's obvious that he's doing a lot of things right. Discipline, though, is not one of those things. Aren't we the most penalized team in the league? It's lost us several games this year.
