The Official Tennessee vs. #8 Florida Game Thread, 9:00pm ET (02/26/13), ESPN

Will tonights game be a sellout and rocking? This team has come back strong and my NIT prediction about 5 weeks ago will be looking very tenuous if Tennessee gets the win tonight. A MUST win for the VOLS.

Florida is playing for a #1 seed. Vols for their tournament lives. I look forward to watching tonights game and a rocking crowd. Make home court huge tonight and the NCAA tourney is within reach!

It's definitely going to be rocking. I think the goal for the Vols is to start hot like they did against UK. Do that and the crowd will be insane from start to finish.

I don't like our chances if we have to make a comeback.

77-70 Vols.

The crowd will be in it whether we start good or end good, as long as its a close game, unless we blow them out like UK. Especially a 9PM game, students are gonna be "hyped up" and going wild

That's great and all, but the students account for what, like 4k seats at the most.

For the blue hairs and casual fans, it sometimes takes a good start to get them out of their seats. I've been to TBA when it was dead for a big game because of a slow start. I've also been when it's pumped.

I'll be going nuts either way!

EDIT: I just read where you said, "if it's a close game"..and I agree. My bad.

should be a great game with no blowout for either side. I think we have an excellent shot of beating the gators tonight with how we are playing and some of their players out. I think we take this one 71-68

I just hope that IF they are down at the end, people dont start leaving. I have seen people leave early in several of the losses this year. That has to be demoralizing to a team.

Did they have blue hair and walk with a cane?

Will never understand why we have our student section where we do. IMO having the student section behind the benches is just more fun to watch on TV. Would be more motivating to our players also...

Its UT, they put the donors ahead of the students. I know this first hand unfortunately.

Gotta pay the bills I guess, although students do pay an activity fee.

I remember at the Memphis game, at the end, I felt like it was just me and a bunch of Memphis fans.

Still 4.5 hours from tip and already on page 8 of the official game thread. Think this team has caught peoples attention yet?

Will probably come down to how well Gators shoot the 3. Don't see them getting alot of points in the paint or second chance baskets. Vols on the other hand have to get it inside to Stokes so he can pound on Florida's short handed front line. Vols have some big long guards and they need to play great D tonight to keep the Gator parameter game in check. Vols 72 Gators 70 as the Florida potential game winning 3 clangs off the front iron.:salute:

Vols could swing this upset; if Arkansas can do it, why can't Tennessee? And if it happens, that late-season tournament push will be official.

No. 8 Florida at Tennessee, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN

While the Gophers have been trending one way, Tennessee has quietly been heading the other. This happened last year, too. After an otherwise forgettable first two months, the Vols won eight of their last nine and finished 10-6 in SEC play.

It's too early to argue that we're seeing a similar push this season -- the Vols have merely won their past five, over mostly unimpressive opponents -- but after a season spent grinding it out on the offensive end, Tennessee is suddenly scoring with abandon: 88 points in 65 possessions against Kentucky, 82 in 63 on LSU, a 93-point four-OT game at Texas A&M.

None of which is Florida, of course. The Gators are still among the nation's best five teams -- you could make the argument they're the nation's second-best team, based on efficiency performance to date -- and it's more than a little bit tough to imagine UT going off against UF's stingy perimeter defense. But when Florida has been beatable this season -- Arizona, Kansas State, Arkansas, Missouri -- it has been beatable on the road, and usually thanks to late spurts. It is not unfathomable to think the Vols could swing this upset; if Arkansas can do it, why can't Tennessee? And if it happens, that late-season tournament push will be official.
