Citadel is a young team. Nine of their twelve players are freshmen or sophomores. They have no seniors. They've lost to the likes of VMI by 11 and Army by 15. This game shouldn't be close.

They average 73 possessions a game, will be interesting to see if we get out and play their tempo or if we try to play more to our pace.

They'll push the pace regardless, because they don't care to burn any shot clock before an attempt. It'll be a test of the Vols conditioning but not much else. Stokes could grab 20 rebounds.

Analysis: Turnovers and defense are key things that The Citadel will need to work on this year if they’re going to improve on Coach Driesell’s three-year record of 24-68. They’ll also have to replace the scoring of senior forward Mike Groselle, the lone bright spot of a 8-22 team one season ago. A few other players have transferred, which opened up a few scholarships, but the Citadel projects to be rather young when they start the season. Their zone defense has been getting lit-up by fellow SoCon opponents, and when the opponents missed on the defensive end, they’ve had trouble grabbing the rebounds. Because of this, Driesell has opted for more size in the recruiting class, but how much of a difference those freshman make, and how quick they’re able to fill Groselle’s gap in the paint will likely tell the story. In year #4, most coaches see incredible improvement from the first three seasons, I’m just not sure it happens here. PG Marshall Harris does return, who led the SoCon in assists last year, but you have to figure a lot of those came in dump-downs to Groselle. Not looking good.

Honestly if stokes and maymon start getting those super close Layups inside we would be a top 20 team. I was proud of our free throw shooting especially by stokes last game, but he needs to get those and 1s when he is that close to the basket. His point blank shots are short far too often.

I wish he would try to dunk those bunnies, his explosiveness has clearly improved, use it.

Wow, UT -27. Don't know if I'd take that bet after the first two games. 20-22 seems about right.

Basketball isn't like football where the team with more talent is almost guaranteed a W. Anything can happen in hoops.

Could not agree more. No touch around the basket. That's why we need more fast breaks to get out of traffic and get clean looks.

For anyone on Comcast that doesn't have the "actual" sports south....it's on FSTN (yes there is a difference lol). For some reason, sports south in Oak Ridge / Clinton use to be regioned for Birmingham and I'd miss UT games while Tide games were on. Soooo crazy. Not sure if it's still like that.

Let's get up by 25 at the half and empty the bench in the second.
Like to see what we've got sitting.
If Maymon sees 30 minutes in this game Martin needs a shrink.

See you set expectations at a ridiculous level so that you can be guaranteed something to complain about.

Now if we win by 29 you're gonna come on here saying how Zo better pick it up.

Expecting to cover the spread at home against a putrid Citadel squad isn't exactly a ridiculous expectation. I'm more concerned with our overall performance and rotations than the margin of victory, for what it's worth.

More than agree. No reason we shouldn't at least have our walkons out on the floor at least.
