The Official Tennessee vs. Indiana Tax Slayer Gator Bowl Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

I agree with most of your points and that's why I've said I'm mostly optimistic about our chances. I just don't think most of our fans who are super confident really know much about Indiana and are just dismissing them a bit too quickly.

A significant portion of the fanbase may believe that the rebuild is over and we're back to our level of talent and overall team strength, as compared to the late 90's and early 2000's.

The Oklahoma thread should have provided enough proof that a portion of the fan base is unrealistic.

I think we play our most best, most complete game of the season tonight... and really kick some a$$. Will be our 5th straight win over the Big Ten in a bowl game.

WGWTFA too :p

It's easy to feel confident when you only take their negatives into account. They also played Michigan State down to the wire in East Lansing, until the Spartans hit a FG with 0:05 left in the game. They also trailed by just a FG at State College, until Penn State scored a TD with less than 2 minutes left in the game.

We have 5 all-conference players. They have 6 -- plus 2 honorable mention. They have a better, more consistent QB. Their all-conference tailback is 6'2" and weighs 235 lbs. and has more rushing yards and more 100-yard games than anyone on our roster. Their all-conference WR has 1,000+ yards receiving -- more than our top receiver. They also have 3 other receivers with 500+ yards. We have 1 receiver, beside JJ, who has >500 yards. They have an all-conference placekicker and a kick returner that averages 20+ yards per return. Their defense has given up 3 points and 15 yards per game average more than our's. As for the quality of the teams they beat, it is probably worth remembering that all of our wins came against teams with a combined losing record, too. We're actually pretty evenly matched on paper. For all of these reasons, I expect a competitive game.
The teams they beat won a total of 26% of their games. The teams we beat won a total of 48% percent of their games. I think if we played their schedule our players' stats would look pretty different.

I think you're probably right. I hope so, anyway. We probably would have beaten Michigan State, too.

.

Shame on them. Maybe someone can talk some sense into them before something terrible happens because of it.

Last game of the season, I'm hoping we pull it off! Appreciate having this site so I can see I'm not the only one yelling at a television.

Go Big Orange!
