Say whatever you want about life in Lincoln, but one must be impressed with Nebraska's support of their teams. I don't think they have been upper echelon in baseball for many years and yet they support that team with top ten attendance. Football support is obvious. Impressive fanbase. I've known a few Huskers in my time and they were very solid folks…..

Can you imagine going to a Nebraska baseball game in March or early April?

I live in lincoln ne.. and the fans are hands down some of the best in the country but like this baseball thing I went to several games this year and it’s like football they almost sell out all their sporting events but the people don’t show.. the baseball stadium is only really full when it’s a big game or event.. I went to a game this year on a Saturday where there were over 2k tickets on the secondary market.. that tells me they sold those tickets but people weren’t going and it was maybe half full

More money to who?
Basically, the way it works is whomever can meet the criteria while guaranteeing the most revenue for the NCAA will win the bid. It doesn’t matter how many more hotel rooms Knoxville has. Both schools already have enough for the expected attendance within the halo. Luxury boxes and sheer cash flow aren’t as big of a factor as you might think, because Tennessee isn’t going to take an operating loss just to host a super regional. Their bid will be in line with expected revenue, but they can afford to take more of a chance here than Southern Miss, because missing expectations won’t hurt the program as much.

The biggest advantage Southern Miss has is that ninth place national attendance average. Southern Miss completely sold out its entire stadium two weeks before the season started. The only walk up tickets available all season were the 200 tickets per game allotted for students. Add to that the fact that Southern Miss sold out its regional in fifteen minutes last year, and the NCAA sees virtually guaranteed revenue from this fan base.

None of that means Tennessee won’t simply bid more per ticket sold and use its own strong attendance metrics to sway the NCAA. Basically, the NCAA could flip a coin here, and win either way.

And Nebraska average attendance said 4700 lol they only have 4400 seat backs at haymarket park.. it’s nice and it has a ton of berm seating lol

Thanks. That sucks. More sleazy in college sports.

They would be hedging the bet on either UT traveling well or the sentiment of the coach retiring. They have only had ONE Game over 6K in the history of the stadium.

I have wondered if they would consider how well UT travels. But also, PM has a good point

Some of you act like we split seating 50/50. We get like 200-300 seats total.

I still think we do better in the re sale market than most, but NCAA doesn't care about that. Either way I expect volnation to show out. And we just proved we can beat even the hottest team at their house. And you're kidding yourself or you haven't played competitive sports before if you don't think confidence matters. Go Vols!

Warren Nolan’s site has our 1st game being on Saturday with us as the visitor. Is that just a guess? Or does he know?
