Any idea why burk got the free second base Saturday night?
Burke turned towards second, the first baseman stepped in his way. The umpire gave Burke 2nd because he blocked him, even though Burke didn't try to advance he only turned left.
If Burke had turned right after touching first it wouldn't have mattered, unless he made an attempt to go to 2nd also.

Maybe, but if that’s their thinking, they could pitch him Wednesday. It would make more sense than pitching him Tuesday on 3 days rest from a 123-pitch outing. Then he’d still be available for the championship series, either Sunday or Monday.
Tuesday would be 2 days rest.

No. It was the hidden ball trick. Tre Tre did the fake throw and put ball in glove. Blake didn't step off bag.

The dumb 300 pounds of lard pitcher toed the rubber without the ball. And, that is a balk.

LSU is dumber than a bag of hammers

According to the story I read online, LSU tried the hidden ball trick, but the pitcher got set on the mound which constitutes a balk.

10/4. They didn't explain it at the game.

Putting the cart before the horse…wake has been a machine all year…I’d rather face a team who we have seen many times in the regular season versus going against a team we haven’t seen all year and trying to figure it out as the game goes..LSU can’t show us anything we already haven’t seen.
1) Wake will be reeling from the loss and we have momentum. 2) You are right Wake is an unknown - so I prefer it to be a 1 game roll of the dice. 3) You are right again .... we DO know LSU ... so easier to deal with them in a two game set. We know exactly what we expect to get.
I think Wake is deeper in pitching and that means giving them and extra day of rest gives them an advantage ... LSU pitching is not as deep ... I think we have a better chance against their pitching staff.

Question: If LSU beats Wake with their B pitcher ... who is the stronger team???

I think only 12 teams have gone on to win the CWS after dropping their first game. 12!!! That means we are a definite dark horse. So, if I have to beat 1 team twice ... I think overall our odds of beating LSU are better than beating Wake Forest in a 2 game set.
Go Vols ... let's make it 13!!!!

So I was at the bar watching the game with friends. They don't watch as often as I do, so they weren't as familiar with the team. Stanford took the 4-0 lead, and it looked bleak. I told 'em our bats didn't really wake up to the 4th or 5th inning. Sure enough, 4th and 5th inning is when the bats woke up.

My logic might be flawed but I don’t want to end up needing 2 from WAKE and their staff. Rather face a LSU staff on short rest. BUT I acknowledge my lack of D1 coaching experience but Beam COULD clutch up and move us on.
If we get LSU in the semis then we would probably have to face Skenes on Thursday. You want that again?

Meh. Could argue that. He did produce a solid hit today so thats encouraging. But the throw to 2nd was a head scratcher.
I wish that I could sit on the sideline and judge other peoples' decisions in their work life. Y'all must always perform at your highest level 100% of the time.

Hey listen bud, I agree he's pretty good defensively. That's 1 side of the game correct ? I think most complaints about the C come from being able to hit. I was more upset with the Elander than a player. But you have a good day
