Question: Early in the game they were hyping some Stanford player that never whiffed on a 95+ mph fastball. Did Burns end that streak? Had to leave during 3rd inning so missed out unfortunately.
A couple of LSU fans were sitting in the Wake family section and were raising hades. Turning around and pointing at Wake fans, and gloating with every LSU hit and run. They were totally provoking the Wake fans. It got really testy and then they quietly left once Wake went ahead in the 8th. LSU are the most obnoxious fans in Omaha by far. Please tell me more.
And the humidity was very low. Contrary to popular belief, low humidity means the air is MORE dense creating more drag on the baseball. High humidity conditions produce MORE home-runs because the air is less dense. High temp + high humidity = more home runs. (My Dad was an aviator so his pet peeve is when coaches and announcers say just the opposite 99% of the time.).It’s a lot closer now to that than it was 10 yrs ago when BBCOR bats first came out & the ball still had very high seams. Today, nobody was hitting it out due to the wind.

Agree…..got stuck in their section in our game. Terrible fans.A couple of LSU fans were sitting in the Wake family section and were raising hades. It’s been great. Much like you said. Great baseball town! They love their college baseball.Very interesting. We saw this first hand in Hattiesburg when it got muggier and muggier as the night went along in game 3, and all of a sudden the balls were flying deeper and deeper.
You witnessed something no TN fan has witnessed in the last 22 years - a Vol win in Omaha. So cool that you’re there! How’s the rest of the city treating you?
They have a lot of options. Great problem to have. The coaches will get the best feel of each pitcher they would rather have start . Just got to have all hands on deck. Short on rest usually means short stints next outting. We got just as good or better chance tomorrow as anyone.
I know he’s just a freshman, but I like the idea of going with Russell on Thursday if UT makes it that far. Go with Lindsey Wednesday (he threw 72 vs. LSU, so 5 days rest should be fine), so he’d be available if the Vols make it to Sunday. If AJ goes Thursday, if he could get you 4-5 innings, the combo of Halvorsen/Cam/Combs/Kirby could take us home. Then you’d have everyone available for a championship series. AJ is probably a weekend starter next year, so throw him in there.
First things first, though. Send LSU packing tonight.
