The Official Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Game Thread, 7 PM ET [ESPN 2]

I hate to say it but if they don't fire him this week, he will likely be here next year. Somewhere between that $5mil we owe him and the money we owe Fulmer(if money weren't the issue we would could gotten the interest of a big fish coach by now) and the fact that there isn't a big fish on the line right now(If there was, he would be hired by now), I am betting that we are stuck with the guy. Dumbest post ever.

I was there tonight. This was the most uninspired team I have ever seen take the field in orange and white, and was simply embarrassing. And yes, it was more embarrassing than the KY loss last year, IMO.

We do NOT lose to Vandy. But we did. The financial hit that UT will take if that clown is on the sidelines next season is far too great of a risk for them to even entertain. Dooley is done.

We only owe Fulmer through the end of this year. Depending on what day of the month we make the deposit, we either owe him $125K if we've already made the Nov payment or $250K if we haven't.

That's just mean! Why would you say something like this?

I will bet any amount of money he isn't back next year

I'm 52 and I was at the 1982 game. There is no way to start a program anew when you are clinging on to a false hope the proven unsuccessful coach will somehow change. In 1982, I too thought that UT had hit rock bottom and that losing to Vandy was the ultimate nightmare. Then eventually, we won a national championship with a new regime. Things change. It is best to facilitate change when bad things happen. Losing to Vandy is not good now, but would you want to lose to Vandy for the next 3 years???? This had to happen to seal what is ultimately the fate of Dooley.

So, just so I'm following you, Johnny Majors was fired for a loss to Vandy from 10 years prior? Learn something new everyday...

After this showing if Dooley is not gone, Hart is on crack.

F..k Dooley, Chaney, Bray, and the entire coaching staff except for a few coaches. I was embarrassed as he.. to watch this game wearing my orange.

I have been backing this team and the coaches since now, but if Dooley or Bray are back, I will not be at the games next year.

No. If we'd won, I thought we'd be saddled with him another year because Hart's cheap, but after tonight's debacle, no. Season tix sales would drop 50%, fans would totally turn on the program, players would leave and recruiting would tank. Dooley done now. He should have been fired two weeks ago.

Not sure what sort of thought process you went through to get to that conclusion, but Dooley is gone. The announcement may come in the next couple of days or it may come next week; but in the end 7 days do not make a hill of beans worth of difference on what happens.
