The Official Tennessee vs. Xavier Game Thread, 9:00pm ET(11/12/13), FOXS1

No excuse to lay an egg like that with the talent we have. We didn't look prepared in any facet of the game. This is the first time I've seriously doubted Cuonzo will get it done. Three years, same start.

We deserved to lose that. That was just a pathetic performance.

Maybe we'll practice some free throws and open shots and this kind of stuff may stop happening.

This team kept too many of the bad habits that the last two year's teams had. Just unacceptable.

I just can't understand how we don't get the ball to McRae early and often in the second half. The bigs were nearly a non-factor. I hope this is just bad early season coaching, chemistry, and hopefully a little rust factor for Maymon. That team was very beatable.

I agree. I too am doubting that CCM can get it done. I will not give up on the Vols, but this is a very disappointing loss. We were beaten by a bad team.

Cuonzo Martin... the Derek Dooley of basketball.

They were both hired by Mike Hamilton to Tennessee. Only similarities. Cuonzo actually has winning seasons. He can count so never has 13 men on the floor. Cuonzo made it out of streets of St.Louis while Precious never played near the street. Ole Barbara wouldn't let him. Oh and only positive check in Dooley has good hair while Cuonzo has no hair.

Xavier will be ranked now. It won't surprise me if they get into the top #10 in rankings two weeks from now because of Stainbrook in the paint. Stainbrook reminds me of Cole Aldrich who would always block shots and score with no effort lol.

Just who the h-ll do we run this offense through? Anyone else tired of watching guys running at the basket and throwing up wild ass shots. They should know better by now. Only the teams we play hit their wild ass off balance shots..

Im just repeating what many on this board continue to say.

No, you're repeating the exact same thing over and over and over without providing any sort of insight at all. Nobody's disagreeing with you. It's like you're arguing with thin air.

I think it's nuts to jump off the deep end after the first game. But this team needs to get better fast

The problem is that Maymon and Stokes don't have touch. I liked them trying to post Stokes. But I don't understand not even trying a zone defense.

I guess I'm not in as big a panic as everyone else. Only thing I'm taking from this game is we can't go 7-19 from the FT line again

Maymon looked a little rusty today, but at least he didn't foul himself out of the game, letting him get 10 rebounds. Maybe if Stokes had done the same we wouldn't have lost the rebound battle by (I think) double digits. I'm disappointed with Stokes' game, I don't think he can really play against players who are 6'10" or above, and that seems bad for an NBA prospect. Barton prolly needed the exhibition games. Our freshman looked like freshman - missing easy layups and going too fast in an away game, aside from Thompson. First half defense on their center and free throws killed us. We haven't adjusted to the new foul calls and let perimeter players blow by us for easy layups or post fouls when we did.

On the bright side, Richardson and McRae both looked good on offense, and Pops wasn't lost when he played, just unable to hit free throws. Chievous isn't dead/kicked off the team. We kind of forced more turnovers than usual. Cuonzo adjusted to their center killing us in the second half, even though he still kinda killed us.
