Tee is free to make whatever decision he feels is best. I would have loved him to come to coach here, but don't blame him at all for declining.

The team isn't winning, I'm not going to the game. This is not the coach I want, I'm not supporting this team anymore. The AD is a bammer, bring in someone else.

With the amount of whining, Volnation should change it's name to WhinNation.

If we got him more money terrific! It comes out of lane's expense account. How do we KNOW that he turned it down? How do we KNOW it wasn't CBJ that turned him down and the pr is saying something different so as not to negatively impact CBJ?

My point is short of being in the room during the interview you don't know.

I dont blame him or any former vol from not wnating to come here.

His legacy is in a permanent state right now. If he were to come here and fail or get us in trouble, then that legacy would be tarnished.

Since you seem to know some details not released to the public, can you elaborate on what specifically was going on with his family that prevented him from taking the Tennessee job offer?

O wait, you don't know anything, just like the rest of us. This could have been a family thing or leverage to get a raise or countless other things. Regardless, it is yet another embarrassment for Tennessee.

Personally, I blame the media for putting us out there to be embarassed in the first place by asking about Tee at the press conference. They put Butch Jones between a rock and a hard place.

He didn't seem to have much trouble doing it when he moved them from Mexico to Kentucky and then from Kentucky back to California within 3 years. Sorry, but that's no excuse. Not bashing Tee, but he clearly used UT for a raise and snake was glad to give it to him and probably grinning the whole time.

Just because Tee Martin; or anyone else; was a player here, does not mean they owe UT anything. This isn't their "home" or whatever other word people like to use. They just happened to play here because they wanted to at the time they were recruited from high school. It's just like any other job, an employer makes an offer and the person either accepts or declines. It's that simple.

I actually don't think many folks in the media or otherwise (outside of Knoxville) care very much whether a position coach who used to play at UT declined a position at UT. It is just NOT that big of a deal!

Bottom line is... He turned his back on this program when the program needed him most! For whatever reason. The reason doesn't matter. HE decided to burn the bridge so HE will live with the consequences. All you apologists are why this program is in the ****ter now!! This program is in DIRE need of some tough love. He will always be revered for his on field a complishments. However... He should not expect another job offer again. Agree?

Come on dude. What other reason did he have to turn down his alma mater? His job is less secure at USC, IMO. Kiffin pulls another 7-5 or 6-6 next season, he's gone. Jones will be given at least 3 seasons to succeed, likely more. He knew all about UT before he flew in here. I'm sure he had several conversations with Jones before coming. If his wife was the problem, he knew that before he came. It's about the money.

I agree with the OP 100%. A VFL would not use his alma mater to get a raise from the one school that we absolutely dispise. Classless.
