Come on dude. What other reason did he have to turn down his alma mater? His job is less secure at USC, IMO. Kiffin pulls another 7-5 or 6-6 next season, he's gone. Jones will be given at least 3 seasons to succeed, likely more. He knew all about UT before he flew in here. I'm sure he had several conversations with Jones before coming. If his wife was the problem, he knew that before he came. It's about the money.

USC can pay him more than we can. And they are already paying him more (most likely). There is no truth to this. No one can say why he turned us down. But there is no proof he played us for a raise. And there is really no logic to the idea.

I think it speaks volumes on what Tee thinks about CBJ ability to turn this program around. Tee is a VFL thats the only reason he even gave CBJ a chance. Tee is a rising star in coaching right now.

West coast rubbing off on Tee he will regret turning UT down and Kiffen is an idiot why be loyal to him he will throw all of them under the bus. It's his last year at USC and Tee will be unemployed with Lois Lane..:loco:

Agree, with the amount of so called fans that TN has I'd stay away too.

The team isn't winning, I'm not going to the game. This is not the coach I want, I'm not supporting this team anymore. The AD is a bammer, bring in someone else.

With the amount of whining, Volnation should change it's name to WhinNation.

I'm definitely not saying that I'm giving up on the Vols, but I just don't blame Tee for deciding to stay at USC.

That's pretty weak sauce to give up because you're not happy with the hire, which was not bad. Dooley was a bad hire. We were hoping he'd be better than advertised. At least Jones gives you a reason to believe he can succeed.

I'm not usually the type to bash people on here but I am pissed off about the way he handled this. He should've declined us quietly. Instead it's more public embarrassment for OUR school. He will also use this against us in recruiting. Not mad at Tee for making the decision he did, but he should've handled this in a more discrete way. Puts his alma mater in another embarrassing situation

I agree with the OP 100%. A VFL would not use his alma mater to get a raise from the one school that we absolutely dispise. Classless.

Well...no arguements from me. Pretty accurate...simple plan too.

He had Kiffin in a corner....losing Tee to UT would be embarrassing. So, in a way, good job by Tee, this was a golden egg opportunity and he played it out...surely got a raise in pay.

If it were just about the money, he would have come to Knoxville. He would have gotten a pay bump and the cost of living is a lot less than LA, so his money would go further.

How would it have been embarrassing? He played here and won a NC, so it would be understandable that he'd come back, not embarrassing.

We just don't know how it played out. Maybe Tee told CBJ, "no" at first but CBJ told him to come out and lets talk about it some more, and bring your wife too, we can arrange for her to talk to some folks. If this were the case, can you blame him for coming and bringing his wife?

I am not believing this. We make a guy a crap offer and he has the respect and decency to even listen to it and then he says nice things about us when he rejects us with class, and people are ragging on him. If Tee leaves SC next year, he will be OC somewhere, with the nice pay raise UT was too cheap and too short-sighted to offer.

true. best thing for his family is for him to live 3000 miles away from his teenage son???? Wow!! I wouldn't go one day without seeing my son, much less give up a chance to live near him and be a part of his life. Him and Lil Kiffie deserve each other.

Tee doesn't owe us anything. I'm disappointed that he declined the job, but that's his right.I wish him the best. Step away from the ledge...we're going to be fine.
