The Official Thread of Josh Selby

Screw that. I follow recruitment and UT basketball closely and I don't want this kid either. Anyone that lets a sponsorship dictate his decision is silly. I understand we are talking about kids and all that but the stories coming from his 'sudden change of heart' just don't add up to me. Plus, I've read a lot of things from people that has met him, played ball with him, and most say he's cocky. Sounds to me like a 'me' first player and we certainly don't need that. We need good ball players that are compassionate about more than just their selves.

It doesn't seem as though Josh has much interest in Tennessee. Kansas is on his short list, which may be one reason for attending the UT-Kansas game.

Just as long as I don't have to hear that damn chant if they win this year. That's still in my head from the beat down last year.

Per Rob Lewis, Selby has been in contact with UT staff and has requested that they re-enter his recruitment.

I was upset earlier, but if this kid wants to be a vol again in the end, I'd be happy to have him

Let's look at the PG's Pearl has recruited:

Ramar
Marquis Johnson
Maze
Goins

Saying that you don't want the best pg in the country after seeing this talent on the floor for the past 4 years is utterly rediculus. The kid is 17 years old. He doesn't know what he wants. All he has done is decommit after his stock blew up and skyrocketted to top 10 status. Basically, the same thing Hopson did during his recruitment.

Selby is amazing and will be a NBA All Star one day. He would be solid even for just one year. Selby, Golden, Goins, Mcrae, Tatum, McBee, Woolridge, Harris, Hall, Williams, (maybe Pinkston or Cothron). That is a solid top ten team IMO.

Nike won't allow it. They are in his head. A lot of these guys would play for The University of Northern Alaska Fighting Wild Salmon if Nike-affiliated AAU coaches told them that was way to the NBA and, more importantly, a shoe contract. Don't discount the importance of motherfreaking SHOES.

Isn't he considering Kansas and Indiana as well though? Aren't these adidas schools?

So we're back in it now? I talked to someone this morning who mentioned him and I ridiculed them for bringing it up.

The lesson, as always, is I am a horse's ass.

I think Harris coming here and knowing that the rest of the recruiting class along with himself will not be a drop off. He wanted to be a Vol and might still want to be, but the influence of everyone around him is telling him different. Never know. He just might pull the trigger in the spring.

Crazy. I don't get this mentality. The kid is way too talented to pass up on. Way way way too talented.

I think some fans would prefer a Dane Bradshaw rather than a player with an ego. All you have to do is look around the NBA to see that the majority of players that are going to come in and be top talent from the start have egos. This is just part of it.
