The Official Thread of Josh Selby

Anyone who has been around a top level recruit knows that they get preferential treatment almost the whole way through high school and want that to continue in college. That's how they develop these huge egos that we love to riducle

Selby maybe cocky but he can back it up, If Vols can bring him in with Harris the sky will be the limit.

Do we actually have a chance to get him back? I doubt it..Be sweet if we did though.

I just don't see it. I think Pearl is probably pissed at him anyways. Didn't we have the verbal for quite some time? He don't even list us as his finals. I think he'll see what Memphis and UK do and throw IU in the mix. If we pick up anymore players, I think we grab a 3.

You all are crazy for not wanting this kid. Bruce will do what's best for the program... if this kid will help us, then Pearl will play him. Even if he's a one and done, it will help our recruiting. Tennessee doesn't have a stellar track record of putting kids in the NBA, so it can only help. And who knows... he might be like Ed Davis at UNC. Guaranteed Top-10 pick last year, but decided on staying for his second year, presumably, for #1 money.

We definitely need J. Selby despite his attitude problems, but I don't think it's going to happen unless Pearl can persuade Selby that he fits our system like a glove, which I believe is our ultimate selling point. Our offense would greatly benefit from a penetrating point guard with his quickness and athletic abilities, which we have not seen since CJ Watson. Selby reminds me of a more athletic version of Ty Lawson (extremely quick, bad attitude, but awesome pg).

This thread is dead.

Per Jerry Meyer's Mailbag:

A rumor has been circulating that Selby is once again involved with Tennessee as a recruit. However, Selby's mother - Maeshon Witherspoon - emphatically shot down that rumor when Rivals.com spoke with her.

Witherspoon did shed a little light on how the rumor might have gotten started. "It's never been a secret that Coach (Steve) Forbes and I are great friends and will talk with each other," said Witherspoon. "But that doesn't mean in any way that Josh is going to end up there."

Glad you posted that. Was going too but forgot haha. Hopefully we beat the crap out of Kansas so instead of that dumb Rock Chalk Jayhawk crap that sounds like it was stole from a bad Disney movie, Selby and his mom can hear Rocky Top about 100 times :good!:

Also, isn't Kansas an Adidas school? Doesn't go well for Bruce and the Wild Wes thing if he's going to turn around and go to another Adidas school, but it IS Kansas.

i would take him look pinkston went to nova and we only have 3 commits 1 pf tobias harris and 2 sg tre golden and jordan mcrae what would be great is to get shelby and cj leslie but we will never land selby or leslie,i could see next year being selby at point and scotty hopson at 2 backed up by goins and golden and mcrae playing off bench at the 2 and 3 spot and have harris ,leslie and hall as our front line with brian williams and woolridgeand tatum resting them and mcbee also resting scottie and selby

Yeah, but that doesn't mean we are out of it.

I think the odds are against us, but crazier things have happened. What started this whole thing was his mother saying that Tennessee wasn't off his list. So don't read too far into anything his mom says.

Tennessee has reappeared recently at a game of his. But I don't think there's much of a chance.

Selby could end up at Kentucky if Knight chooses not to go to the Bluegrass State. Also, with Sherron Collins and Jerome Dyson both seniors I see Kansas and UConn being right in the think of things. I think when it's all said and done, Selby will join fellow Baltimore native Roscoe Smith in Storrs where he would thrive in the Huskies' transition game and attacking half-court offensive that has produced great guards year in and year out. My Pick: Connecticut
Rankin: Projecting where the top uncommitted prospects will end up - ESPN

They have Brandon Knight going to UK, CJ Leslie going to Maryland, and Ray McCallum going to the Gators

Does Selby have to decide before the McDonald's AA game? He will be playing with Tobias Harris. Harris should do some recruiting.

I don't have a pass, but apparently Lewis on Volquest reported that we now lead for his services. Anyone have any news?
