I'm not going to be that confident until I actually receive official confirmation that he has signed. I think our recent string of recruiting disappointments should force us to temper our excitement.

I really hope yall are right about Tobias signing with Tennessee. But still, not to sound bias, but who wouldn't want to play for Bruce?

Not really. Maybe they wanted to stay close to home, or liked a particular school more, wanted a school with more of a bball tradition ect...

Selby obviously wanted to play for Pearl until people got in his ear.

BTW Who are "all the recruits" that turned us down?
If a recruit choosing to go elsewhere is "getting turned down" then every other school is turned down basically the same amount.

This is ridiculous. If Selby loved Pearl so much, he would sign with Tennessee, but he hasn't because clearly he would rather play for somebody besides Bruce Pearl.

Josh Selby, Tarik Black, Joe Jackson, possibly Jayvaughn Pinkston, Vander Blue, Crawford. Would you like me to keep going? I'm sure they all really wanted to play for Pearl though.

I just assumed it was basic logic. If you want to play for a coach, you go play for them...if not you go play for someone else...

That's just too difficult for some people. I'm sure Josh Selby will be shedding some tears when he signs with someone other than Bruce Pearl.

So why were they interested in the first place then? I'm sure every kid would like to play for Roy Williams, but do they all sign with UNC? No. Because the coach is the only factor in their choice.

BTW I heard he was at the game against UNC Ashville. That helps. A LOT

Peer pressure (and parental pressure) can be a terrible thing - even when their heart says, "go to Tennessee!" I even think Harris's decision would have been a lot easier if he lived in this area.

I think we will always have more near-misses than those who have players in their back yards.

No, I think you might not understand. Yes, they might have liked Pearl, but they clearly thought that playing for another coach was much more advantageous. For example, the top flight players may like Pearl, but they want to go play for a coach that has a record of getting kids to the NBA, which Pearl does not. I'm not saying they hate Pearl, but I am saying that they clearly wanted to play for other coaches more than him. Again, this just seems like common sense.
