This is spot on, PLUS, this game is far from over. Things happen. As a former and current player at a pretty high level, the players aren't going to give up, so as a fan, why would I...... EVER!

I think many posters have never been on a team or honed an athletic skill to the point where they can compete at a very high level, so they don't know that by being off by a tiny amount doesn't mean "I'm junk" it means what I just said it was, they're off a tiny amount. That's for hoops, lacrosse, tennis, golf, etc etc.
I also believe it's more difficult to be a fan than a player because fans are helpless, the players are out there adjusting.
I think a sport like baseball is particularly tough because you only get to swing the bat about once every 20 or so min? ie 4-5 at bats over 3 hours?
As I'm sure YOU know.... having a short memory is a gift when it comes to improving at a sport. It's just the way it is.
