The Official UT-UF Game Thread

who cares? season over as far as I'm concerned. Yes, I have high expectations but losing to Florida (especially in a game we had many chances to win) is violating the 11th commandment. I HATE THE GATORS :realmad:

Ainge made some mistakes (intentional grounding), D did a fair job but not good enough, our running game just plain sucks. Should have been a "W" for the Vols.

Exactly what the hell was Ainge supposed to do when the middle linebacker was on top of him right after the snap? He got called for intentional grounding. His other option was to take the sack. You know what the difference is between being sacked and being called for intentional grounding? Absolutely nothing! That screwup was on the offensive line!

Were it not for Ainge, we wouldn't have even been in this game.

You have REALLY LOW standards if you think our defense did a fair job. The only thing that consistently stopped Florida tonight was their own stupid mistakes.

Okay, hun. I stand corrected.

20 points ont UF. Great job.

21 points allowed. 14 after 3rd qtr. plus a few minutes. Chavis shouldn't have let them go home on D so early. Poor grade.

At least for tonite, I am impressed with Florida. They played a solid game in most aspects. It pains me to say it, but I think they deserved this victory, noting especially the composure kept as they came from behind. I do not think they will go undefeated, but I'm giving them props...they are strong. As for our beloved Volunteers, it is clear the talent is still there, but there are holes to mend. Our D showed moments of greatness and moments of fatal vulnerability. Ainge showed that he is incredibly improved, but in the SEC atmosphere, he is capable not brilliant. Hats off to our team, it was a hard fought game, and I believe we can emerge from the UGA game 5-1. The good news is that I do not yet believe the SEC Eastern title is out of reach yet...!

This is two weeks in a row that the run defense has looked lost. Why can't we stop a quarterback draw when we know it's coming? :BANGHEAD2:

I agree, it's tough to take a loss to Florida, but I think the season as a whole can turn out to be a positive. We should beat Marshall and Memphis, but then the real trial by fire begins, SEC games the rest of the way. We haven't even gone on the road yet. As much as I hate to admit it, UF does look pretty talented on the whole. God, I can't believe we lost by one lousy point. I'm gonna have to drink eight more beers to recover.

im shocked, i thought we had it when we were up 10, but we gotta keep on keepin on.

Ainge and Passing game was on tonite, some questionable play calls when we were still tryin to establish the run in the 2nd half, and some questionable officiating both ways.

Overall you can say the game came down to the coaching when florida chose the right plays on offense to score the winning td and when we kept trying to run when it obviously wasnt working. or you can blame it on our o line, but they gave the effort and it was a good game. Florida obviously didnt look too good, but if you watched lsu or auburn earlier the game was fairly similar with a offensive struggle.

Loss to Florida = failure. go 1-11 but win that game? I'm happy. Sorry - used to live close to Gainesville for a few years and nothing ruins my year like losing to them. Yes, I am a very sore loser..........

Great game! Players played hard, coaches coached well... OK, maybe it's not a good idea to sit on a 6 point lead (flashes of the mid 90's Cutcliffe...). Anyway, Florida is not good enough to keep from losing 2 SEC games with the gauntlet they have to run! I still think the SEC East is between UT and UGA. If we run the SEC table, we are in the Championship Game. At the very least, it might be another 3 way tie...

Congrats to Ainge and the receivers on a well-played game. Coach Cut also called a good one until the late 3rd/early 4th when he insisted on trying to run it despite no signs of success. I would have preferred to see some more screens/quick slants.

And on defense, I think we saw the effects of losing Inky. My hat is off to Justin Harrell for manning-up and playing down a limb. That one will go down in Vol lore for quite some time.

Running backs and O-line need work big time. Hardesty just doesn't have the burst to get through the line, and Foster is still banged up. Why didn't we give Coker a look at TB--wasn't he a 5-star guy coming out of Antioch? And now I'm wondering if this "slimmer/faster" offensive line strategy is working. The OL got manhandled, both in the running game and in pass pro.

Bottom line, this was a game that we could have won, but not necessarily a game that we should have won. If these two teams played 10 times, I would expect UF to win about 6 or 7 times out of 10.

If we had any semblance of a running game, Florida would not have had time to overcome the 4th quarter deficit.

I can imagine your anguish, but I'm trying to look at this in a way that keeps our fanship more respectable than the average Gator fan...there's more than one way to win...and lose.

I lived in Florida for a while too (2000-2005). Luckily we had some success during those years against UF. What hurts most about losing to Florida is that Gator fans are typically the least sportsmanlike of any of our rivals. I went to the games in Gainesville in 01,03, and 05--their fans will get right in your face without provocation and try to start something with you. Nowhere else (and I've been to almost all of our SEC opponents' stadiums) have I found that.

Well, I saw something I didn't like out of OUR fans tonight. Right before the second half, the camera went to the Gator players about to take the field and you could see stuff flying out of the stands down on them.

We're better than that.
