The official VN Unwritten Rule Book

Not unless you can explain what makes those particular years significant to the history of the sport.

By those 'particular years' do you mean all 83 of them?

It's relevant because an 83 year period is a pretty good sample size in most people's mind.

It's also an indisputable fact, it happened. Unlike half of Bama's claimed national titles.

Which brings us to the next rule. When someone is critiquing a point you made, completely change the subject and turn it on them.

But what makes those 83 years more significant than any other long stretch in cfb history?

Well done.

I think he was referring to starting at 1928...and for the record UT's reign at the top ended in 2008. Oklahoma and Bama have more wins than UT since 1928.

If you write a love letter to a recruit (let's say a 5* QB from California), don't tell VN about it.

Never try to pick up chicks on VN

Never drink 'steel reserve' before a game

Never try to hop in the golf cart with johnny majors

Never fall in love at a tailgating event

Always make fun of qb's from other SEC schools because they didn't have as good of a pro career as Peyton Manning.

the original statement I remember was for years starting in 1926. That was Gen Neyland's first year as HC at UT. That is the reason UT uses it and while you may not view it as significant for all of CFB it is very relevant to the UT football program

when anticipating the impact of incoming freshman, completely ignore that the competition has incoming freshman too

Nothing. What's significant is the accomplishment. I kind of relate it to:

P1: Bama won a title in 1992.

P2: Okay....so what's special about that year?

P1: Well...nothing, but it's a national title.

For a team to be the winningest program over a decade is impressive. 83 consecutive years out of a 122 year history is pretty special imo.

If you start a link-based thread, please don't just post the link as the first post.

At least make an attempt to summarize for those of us that don't care to open a new page in our browser.

rules are made to be broken......and dont try to hop in the golf cart with johnny majors....did i mention that?

When the Vols defense is having a bad game, don't forget to start a thread about how we need to hire Chavis, Dale Jones, or Al Wilson to coach the defense.

When two threads are going on the same topic, be sure to jump in and tell the mods that they need to be merged. They won't realize it otherwise.

Wives and family members of players and coaches are off-limits. If they put themselves out there (in the sports-world) this rule can be bent.
Threads about which coach has the hottest/ugliest wife are so lame. If you find those interesting, you need to either find a girl for yourself, or renew your Teen Nick magazine, and go to town with that.
