the woman's 20K race walk is both interesting and boring at the same time.

i can't believe i'm almost an hour into it.

at this point, i have to see if the woman who ran off from the first lap can hang on to it.

I've watched a lot of strange TV at 1:30 in the morning in my life, but this is right up there near the top.

Oh wow. I forgot that NBC went back to coverage after the news. At this point, however, I'm apparently committed to watching these women waddle endlessly around this long oval. I don't think it's ever going to end.

I can tell I've been watching it too long because I'm starting to believe that the leader might actually be hot.

This race walking is freaking me out - the slowmo shots make it look like they are made out of rubber.

I keep waiting for Mr. T to bust through with his Snickers gatalin gun : )

Hahaha....had forgotten about that one. "YOU A DISGRACE TO THE MAN RACE!"

I can't see how this doesn't just tear up their legs. As you say, the slow motion shows make what they're doing look totally unnatural. I can't imagine going 13 miles like this.

it's actually a pretty amazing sport.

I was just looking down the BBC News "world news" headlines on their RSS feed, and saw that [REDACTED]. So I thought I'd ruin it for you, too.

I do not get why an obscure Olympic sport counts as "world news" to the BBC. Stupid.

You sure? Face looked all right in a shot or two I saw. I'm probably just frontrunning, though.

(Note that in this context, "hot" actually means more like "not entirely repulsive." It's all relative.)

Agreed. I want to try it to see how far I could get without wanting to kill myself. Probably not even down to the mailbox and back, I bet.

this one run walker is trying to make herself puke on the side of the course to get rid of fluid.

i've never seen anybody stop and make themselves puke on the actual course before.
