The Official Zone Severe Weather Thread

Amazingly (and no doubt temporarily) have cell and internet this afternoon.

House fine and most of neighborhood fine.

No power, no water, few gas stations open, hour and half long lines at handful of open grocery stores. Water could be out in areas for weeks.

I26 toward Greenville SC has reopened, pretty much only way out of town. We’re headed to G’ville tomorrow for several days to do laundry and restore sanity.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. It’s been a weird 3-4 days

Just thankful you’re still here on earth with us Exie! Prayers continuing for everyone involved.

@volfanbill that "Nolichucky Dam" that failed....is that the one there just south of the old 9-hole Nolichucky Golf Course (and it changed to River something golf course)?????

Edit: That's the old Asheville Highway that goes across the river there, if it's where I'm thinking it is. I don't know a lot about that end of Greene County.

I get it.

Glad you're okay.

Fortunately it didn’t collapse. Near River Trace and the old Cedar Creek camp. I spent a lot of time there in grade school

He’s ok. I think he was in New England
Also he’s a Washington Countian, but really close to the line. There’s some seriously damaged places down that way. The Nolichucky made it all the way up to the crossroads at hwy 81 and 107. Family friends own massive farms down there and got out with just the clothes on their backs and their medicines.

Hampton is a disaster. The HS is likely gone.

Wish I could come home to help, but I’d prolly just be in the way anyway

A similar story from a former student of mine whose family farm was destroyed

This is heartbreaking
