The Officiating Thread - UGA

STFU..And no, not to the extreme Ala and TN fans do. ANYONE that knows football knows refs don't win or lose games. We have too many fans that know that and don't use refs as a crutch. Then dumbasses like you blame everyone else except for the ones who should catch the blame. Our fans and Ala takes it to a whole different level and makes all of us look like uneducated trailer park trash.

So, get over yourself and quit acting like an unintelligent bitch boy!

Well from your response, you definitely fit the bill.

It’s unsurprising the Bulldogs had a great second half because Coach Smart is a. Chess King, another Vince Lombardi, Phil Jackson, or Coach KrzyZewski aka Coach K.

It was priceless that a Bulldogs wr shook his head after being flagged for pushing a Vols defender before catching the football because he’s not taking off the rose colored Bulldogs glasses.
He insults the vast humans watching the game , physics, common sense, and unmistakable indisputable visual evidence because he seriously believes with his head shake that he didn’t push a Vols defender after getting flagged for it.

Stop it. The game will be decided on the field. Bad calls will happen but nobody is out to get us. It’s this type of rhetoric why many despise TN.

Exactly it’s very frustrating if one blames the referees for the result because the teams playing are usually responsible for the results.

This is as terrible as the sun was in my eyes excuse, this team beat themselves instead of giving the other team credit, or any other rose colored glasses excuse for a team losing.

While the outcome of a game can be decided by a terrible call as shown with Miami Virgina Tech after that apparent catch was reversed, and vast others.

The only call I thought was clearly erroneous was the missed DPI on #24 for UGA early (our second or third offensive possession). That pop pass "fumble" was indeed an incomplete pass. I see different teams run that play all the time and announcers frequently point out that it is a pass and counts as passing yards. The second "fumble" by the tight end in the second half at best for us could have gone either way. We did in fact have 12 guys on the field that one time. The facemask they showed another angle slowed down a few minutes later that showed the defender's hand on the facemask. That's gonna get called every time the helmet also comes off (even though the former didn't cause the latter as the ref probably thought in real-time). Holdings and motions are missed multiple times in every game, fans tend to only see the infractions of the other team though, not there's. Alot of y'all complaining were laughing at Bama fans doing the same thing a few weeks ago after our game. It just means more.

The rule clearly states the face mask or opening must be grasped AND used to twist the head. That did not happen. Don’t call it if you don’t see it. PERIOD. He COULD NOT see that. Zero justification for that call. Exactly why Coach was so upset from the git go.

Did you watch the sequence I referred to? You can see the hand on the facemask, then bam the helmet comes off (albeit for unrelated reasons but you couldn't tell it was unrelated, in real-time it can forgivably be interpreted as cause and effect). That exact sequence probably gets called 9 times out of 10. Coach was irate because it was a devastating penalty and he probably saw the same initial replays on the jumbotron that they showed on TV, which showed nothing. As I said though, the network went back and the other angle showed what the ref saw. Anybody calling that a "phantom facemask" after seeing that other angle is simply lying to themselves. It's true you can't 100% tell either way whether there was grasping/twisting, but in real time it's easy to see how the referee concluded that is what occurred. Like Oliver Wendell Holmes said in a more serious context (a Supreme Court case on police use of force) "detached reflection cannot be demanded in the presence of an uplifted knife", i.e. when someone has to make important snap judgements, it is not reasonable to expect that those judgements will have the same accuracy as someone later Monday morning quarterbacking the judgement with unlimited time and under no pressure.

BULL, it can and has happened. Biggest case in point was the famous FLORIDA game. Besides thecTD call that the conference called a meeting and provided clarification on PI, the same official awarded a TD on a run at dang near the same spot when a runners knee went down at about the 2 (pic in paper showed it, and replay would have fixed it) and just prior to half the same ref ruled progress on our receiver who caught a ball and toe tapped at the sideline, letting the time run out instead of us getting a medium field goal attempt. Find a reply and tell me this is not all true.

They can’t argue his bias, because SHORTLY after this game this Vandy grad was moved off his crew to Rocky Goode’s crew, where he could not ever call another UT game.

IT CAN HAPPEN. Like usual it is stupid to take a NEVER stance.
