The Ohio State vs. Michigan game thread

So, 1 conference cannot have the best two teams in the nation in it?

It can, but there is no reason for them to play twice to decide the biggest prize in the nation. That's especially true when a one loss team exists in the conference that everyone is constantly praising as the best in the land (SEC).

Looking at the schedules each of these teams have 1 high quality win... Wisconsin for Michigan and Texas for Ohio State. Both of them playing in the title game with one of them losing this one would be a travesty.

The SEC may be the toughest conference, but it doesn't make the best team in it national title-worthy. Both these teams would crush every SEC team.

Ohio State and Michigan have scheduled and beaten two preseason top 10 non conference teams. Florida and Arkansas cannot make that claim. Instead, Florida played a I-AA school in November and Arkansas lost to USC by 36!

If you lose to anyone by 36 points, you do not deserve a shot at the national championship.

If USC wins out, they should be considered, however, dropping that game to an unranked team clearly makes their resume worse than OSU/Michigan.

Beating Notre Dame by about 30 is not a high quality win for Michigan?

No rematch of this game for the title. Those who are against a playoff system say the regular season is the playoffs. Well, UM and OSU are in their playoff game tonight. I don't know of any football playoff where a winning team plays the team they just beat in the next game.

Bama shoots theirselves in the foot. On 4th and 15 deep in Auburn territory and down by 7 with 5 minutes to go, they hold the offense on the field and then rush the FG team onto the field but have to waste a timeout. They only have 1 timeout left and are about to try the FG.

... Which I think is balanced out by a much larger number of quality wins. Either way, I wouldn't be terribly upset about a tOSU-Mich NCG rematch after this barn-burner.

If you are going to try and use logic, use it correctly, and argue for Boise State or an undefeated Rutgers team to play in the National Title.

Preseason top 10 means nothing. UT was preseason top 5 last year. Texas, ND, and especially Penn State are not top 10 quality teams. Those victories are good, but honestly, I'd say Wisconsin is the best victory between either of those teams.

I don't believe that USC would have more quality wins than Michigan (if Michigan loses). Nebraska might win the Big XII, but they have 3 losses (if they lose, 4). Arkansas will have two losses by the time everything is said and done, and California will have 3. Wisconsin has 1, Notre Dame will have 2, and Texas will have 2.

Again, the tie breaker will go to who they lose to. Michigan will most likely lose to the #1 team in the country, USC to the #59?

Ok, then, Notre Dame and Texas, #5 and #13 in the BCS, respectively...

Florida lost to #15. I think that's a "quality" loss. It wouldn't be fair to deny them a shot at Ohio State or Michigan, in my opinion.

With those earlier ones, BCS conf. champs cannot be overlooked, no matter how many losses.

Like I said, I could go either way. I personally would put in a one-loss USC team, but I won't argue against this game for a rematch.

Huge mistake may have just cost Michigan a chance to get the ball and win the game.

In other news JPW just threw a pick to end the Iron Bowl.

Is 11 points a big enough margin to guarantee Michigan does not get to the national championship?
