Absolutely. Very, very good show on its own merits. To me though, BoB was one of the greatest shows in TV history. I've watched the whole thing through probably 10 times now.

Band of Brothers is hand down the best Military movie/TV series. PERIOD. The Pacific is a great series in itself, I love them both

I don't know if I'd put it solidly above a number of military/war movies. Saving Private Ryan, Das Boot, Apocalypse Now, The Dirty Dozen, The Great Escape, All Quiet on the Western Front, Full Metal Jacket, just to name a few.

The Pacific is the first and only dramatized military movie/series that I actually needed time to collect my thoughts and recover after each episode. I watched them with my father last summer while I was back in KC; he always wanted to push on to the next episode as soon as the last one ended and had a hard time understanding why I was against that. The series is as gritty as the book.

This mini-series is great on it's own merits. Because it was produced by the same team that gave us BoB the two will always, unfortunately, be compared against each other.

I would. I've watched almost every military movie you can imagine. It's JMO

The Pacific wasn't in the same league as Band of Brothers. As others have stated, the character development in The Pacific was not nearly as good.
