1. Shades of Dan Federman at LSU in 1982. There's no better sound than shocked silence on the road.
2. While some of it was attributable to good defense, both teams have serious problems in the halfcourt offensively. There's no reason for either of those squads to struggle that much.
3. Tobias Harris fell in love with his jumper too much. As he matures, he'll learn to use those made threes as a decoy for his drive game.
4. If Chris Barnes and Jeremy Price weren't so awful, UGA would be in business. They get nothing out of that spot.
5. Jay Williams is the new age Len Elmore. Nice guy, awful analyst.
6. Tennessee is incredibly fortunate to win a game where their point guard play was that bad. Goins is completely lost offensively.
7. Scotty Hopson wasn't great, but he was aggressive. That's progress.
8. Travis Leslie is a good player and fun to watch. However, Gerald Robinson is the better basketball player.
9. It'll be interesting to see if Brian Williams maintains his level of performance from the last two games. Saturday will be a good test of that.
10. The UCONN game is now merely a fun opportunity. Winning tonight alleviates any desperate need for a victory Saturday.

Was the announcer correct in saying Leslie was an NBA player? He hasn't really ever done much other than flashy dunks and some good steals. Doesn't have a shot at all - reminds me of Stanley Asumnu - just slightly more athletic and scores more off second chance points.. maybe a slightly better shot - but I doubt it.

Has Goins regressed from the end of last year, or was he always this indecisive?

Devoe took the team straight to the bus after that LSU game. Clock didn't start for several seconds as UT was bringing ball up.

In my eyes, Goins has become our worst player. Looked so much better at the beginning of the year.

Goins is a lot like my girlfriend when picking a place to eat, always indecisive, pretends that I get to pick and then we just end up going where she wants. In Melvins case that is driving to the basket himself or shooting a contested three as the shot clock expires

You think Len Elmore is a nice guy?

Elmore's one of the classiest guys in the sport. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone inside the basketball community who would dissent from that opinion.

I really think it was a great move a few games ago to start Fields. I didn't see the first few minutes tonight, so I am presuming it went that way again. Fields and Pearl are defensive specialists. They rarely score. So, to have them both playing on the second string was leading to a very offensively-challenged unit when they were out there together. Moving Williams to the second string balances things out.

It looked to me like Goins was trying to make things happen when Scotty was standing around not getting open and not wanting the ball again when the game was on the line.

UGA looked exactly like the team I saw live holding on for dear life against Mercer a couple of weeks ago. They have some dynamic athletes that look incredible at times and then just disappear for long stretches.

I'm still not sure what the Hell they called, so I'm not sure if they got it wrong or not.

They called Williams for goaltending the freethrow, which I believe is an automatic technical. However, it appeared that the UGA guy touched the ball first to me.

Somebody will fall in love with his explosiveness and give him a shot. That said, he's a long, long way from being a useful NBA player right now.

I think he has. Far too often it appears he doesn't know what to do other than dribble around.

While I agree, it's not as if our other players are doing a great job moving without the ball. They pass like to ships in the night when coming off screens. wouldn't mind seeing them run more of the flex look Pearls teams have run in the past. the flex cut was good to the vols in the past.

Hat, what is your take on the technical foul? I thought they should have reviewed it on the monitors before making a decision.

Quotes of the night from Jay.

"He needs to be confident that he can shoot that jumper with confidence"

and

"He is a cold stone killer"

I'm thoroughly befuddled why they didn't keep going to Robinson when he had the hot hand in the first half.

What was Robinson doing at TSU, anyway? That story Rob Stone gave about just wanting to be close to his family legit?
