Mich St and UT are mirror images this year in many ways. They have a player (summers?) Who has tanked as well and needs to sit as cam does.

I have never understood why Bone doesn't play more. The guy is solid on defense and serviceable on offense. Rarely does he do anything that makes you scratch you head and he makes more threes than McBee, our three-point "specialist."

As always, good analysis Hat.

Unfortunately, I was still at work during the first half, so I didn't get to see Scotty play, but man he looked horrible in the 2nd half; especially during that Ark run. How many times did he mishandle the ball and turn it over?

Seems to me that when he is off, the rest of the team turns sheepish. If they want to do anything at all post-season, other players have got to rely on themselves more and play with confidence!

Scotty's ballhandling certainly regressed to early season form.

Unless I'm mistaken, Steven scored on three straight possessions. The Vegas odds on that have to be great.

He did have a really nice pass leading to the Hall dunk. Had one to Harris in the first half. And his shooting wasn't really bad (4/9), he just didn't take many and didn't get to the line. In the first half, he was just feeding (and letting the rest of the guys feed) Harris. In the second half, when we weren't getting it to Harris, he needed to be more aggressive.

Also looks like Pearl was trying to keep guys' minutes down. Nobody played more than 30. Harris and Hops had been playing 33-35 per game over the last few weeks.

No doubt, but if he wouldn't scored before that drought, we probably would've lost. I'll give him some credit - not the most skilled player but knows his role and isn't scared to go for the easy 2 on his own...

Bone needs to be starting over Tatum.

Who do you think Arkansas will pull once they can Pelphrey? There is already a quite a bit of Mike Anderson talk.

Read a quote where Anderson said he would like to retire at Missouri.

One story people aren't talking as much as they should about is Rick Pitino doing one of the best coaching jobs of his career.

Thanks for the rundown incipient... Just didn't see much from him in the 2nd (at least not as much as I expected for sure)

I don't understand why he would do that.
It was in an Email from a friend I get about potential job openings he collects from various sources... Maybe it was Arkansas would make a push for him.

As bad as Pearl has been both professionally and personally, Pitino is a shell of himself, wins or no. He's truly a dumpster fire. :)

He was certainly quiet, but not bad. 44% shooting, 4 rebounds.

He played fewer minutes than he's used to (as did Tobias), which makes me think Pearl was trying to save his legs. I wonder if Scotty had that in the back of his head as well. Wanted to save something for tomorrow. Gotta be careful with that--almost wasn't a tomorrow.

Bone needs to be starting over Tatum.

At this point, what do you have lose? Put Hopson at the 3, Bone at the 2, and roll with Goins/Bone/Hopson/Harris/Williams. Tatum would still get 15-20 minutes a game, and he's been quite effective in the past in the 6th/7th man role. Goins and Bone's D should be able to handle, or at least slow down, even elite opposing guards, which would give as a puncher's chance in the tournament with just about anyone, depending on whether or not we can find a way to make shots.

I'll admit I'm a little biased on that issue. I was around UC when it was running on all cylinders and know what a great job it is under the right circumstances. I think Arkansas is a political mess of a job. It takes a special kind of personality to survive there.
