In actual thread topic related news, I'm looking forward to travelling to Columbia again. It had lost some luster after Spurrier retired.

Ask Mcelwain how bad WM recruiting was. Without it, UF would have been happy to see 4 wins this season.

Why? As someone said this was probably not even in their top 5. Flat out, after a season where a legendary coach walked away in shame, a 10 win per season coach was fired, and a 2 time National Championship coach was almost fired, who in their right mind wants to put their career on the line and go coach in the SEC where no one has a consistent chance as long as Saban is walking Alabama's sidelines?

Justin Fuente chose Virginia Tech over SC and Tom Herman decided that staying in Houston was better. I can see some logic to hiring Muschamp, and he's not going to be a "disaster." Really, he left Florida in better shape than he inherited it; he just wasn't a very good head coach. I'm not convinced that offense was his only problem either. He just doesn't strike me as having the personality to "lead" and act as "CEO" of a major program. He recruited reasonably well at Florida but never could everything out of his players; and it seemed like they were frequently lackadaisical about non-rivalry games. (Seriously, am I the only one who noticed his teams showed up for Tenneseee, Georgia, and FSU, but not Vandy, Mizzou, SCe, etc?) Of course, while recruiting was decent at Florida under Muschamp, it's a lot easier to recruit in Gainesville with the flagship program in one of the best states for talent in the nation than it is in Columbia, SC, where you're playing 2nd fiddle even in your own state.

Muschamp might get SC back to some 6-6 and 7-5 type seasons, but I'd be shocked to see SC at 10-2 with a top 10 ranking again.

Im trying to figure out why after just one year of mediocre defensive play by Auburn and getting ran off by Florida, Muschamp gets another head coaching job. Why? What happened that made him the man to lead the Gamecocks? We will see, but it seems like he is lacking the necessary tools to be a head coach at a major university at this point. We shall see.

Head Coach Muschamp is a "disaster" and there's no question about that.

BTW, SC fans are still raging, in their meek way. LOL

Defense was good minus linebacker

But offense? Kelvin Taylor and Demarcus Robinson are the 2 best skill position guys he signed

Behind them there's nobody else i can think of he signed well other then Matt jones

Mike summers turned in a hell of a coaching job we had a fcs transfer and 3 freshmen on the offensive line playing a lot of minutes this year
