The Problems with Trans-ideology

Then as society has increasingly became more accepting we should have seen drops. We have not. Because people are not “treating” them, which is 100% what you have to do with people who are sick

LGBTQ youth who reported experiencing LGBTQ-based physical harm, discrimination, housing instability, or change attempts by parents — were 12 times at greater odds of attempting suicide compared to youth who experienced none.

Another study found that LGB young adults who report high levels of parental rejection are eight times more likely to report attempting suicide and six times more likely to report high levels of depression (Ryan et al., 2009).

36% of LGBTQ youth reported that they have been physically threatened or harmed, and those who did attempted suicide at nearly triple the rate of those who did not in the past year.

The Trevor Project’s research has also found that 52% of LGBTQ youth who were enrolled in middle or high school reported being bullied either in person or electronically in the past year, and those who did had three times greater odds of attempting suicide in the past year.

73% of LGBTQ youth report that they had experienced discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity at least once in their lifetime, and those who did attempted suicide at more than twice the rate of those who did not in the past year.

Youth who reported undergoing conversion therapy were more than twice as likely to report having attempted suicide and more than 2.5 times as likely to report multiple suicide attempts in the past year.

Numbered your studies for easier discussion.

1. Notice the term "LGB", meaning this study didn't address the "t" which is the entire thing we are discussing.

2. Yes, people who've been assaulted have higher suicide rates. Not sure what that has to do with this.

3. Yes, a lot of kids are bullied online.

4. 70% of Black Americans have experienced discrimination per Kaiser. Yet their suicide rates are far below average.

5. Conversion therapy is elective. Meaning you're only going to undergo it if you're already distressed about your situation.

Literally 0 of these address my previous point though. Given acceptance of the trans community is higher now than ever, why are suicide rates not lower if the problem is lack of acceptance as you are claiming?

Not for me to decide - but I do at least get a small say.

So you’re certain these windows need to move, but can’t give an example of which specific Overton windows.

Therefore it seems just as likely that some of these need to move further to the right, correct?

You didn't even address the very first paragraph - 12 times greater odds

If your position is that societal/family/religious/school acceptance or rejection isn't a major factor is suicide rates, then we simply and completely disagree. The data proves my position.

The data you posted is extremely sad and certainly shows a causal link between acceptance and self-harm.

However, your data also deals with the LBGT community as a whole, whereas most of the folks to whom you've been responding, myself included, have been talking specifically about suicidality within the trans community. Suicide rates amongst trans folks are markedly higher than even the already high numbers within the larger gay community.

Yeah, I did miss that. But it’s full so so many variables that it’s not even worth looking at. Like homelessness. Yes, homeless people are more likely to kill themselves. Not sure what that proved.

The data hasn’t proven your position even a little. Acceptance is up, yet suicide is not down. That’s the opposite of what you are claiming to be true. So how does that work

The bolded is most important. If we're going to try to pass anecdotes as "science" and "studies", then it's just as relevant to point out how literally every major corporation, news outlet, etc. etc. in America is waving about pride flags for this month.

Most of this stuff is mental illness stemming from deeper issues. The left is aiding suicide and violence against these people more than anyone else by saying they need no treatment and no help. It's outright evil.

Yeah he’s trying to use studies that have 5 (homelessness and assaults for example) or more variables in some of them and then claim it’s all due to a single variable (acceptance).

It would be like if you did a study and found people who drink alcohol, smoke marijuana, use cocaine and amphetamine, and only eat beef were more likely to get colon cancer. Then you tried to take from that “marijuana causes colon cancer”. The correct answer to take from that, is at least one of those things probably does. But you can’t say which without controlling for the other variables. It’s just bad science designed to meet a narrative rather than to find an answer

You bastard! There are kids starving in Africa and you’re worried about mutilating kids here? *******!

Keep acting like y'all suddenly started giving a collective sh*t about others peoples' kids this past year.

It takes a village, right? 🤣🤣🤣

And to be clear, I don't really lose sleep about starving children either. Difference between us is that I don't put up a false front of empathy.

A village? Not in my house.

Dude you are a straight up gangsta. Found a niche that really needed to drown their depression, to make your dimes. Smart man.

You could use this weak a** argument for anything. Like you for example, you don’t actually give a fu** about gay or trans peoples rights to do any of this sh**. You care as much about them as you do the gays getting thrown off roof tops in the Middle East. Suddenly people like you started giving a fu* in the past year.

See, I do though. I raise money for charities, initiatives, and PACS. I employ them. I am friends with a fair number of them. I've been here for years.

Try again.

And how do you know the posters you’re accusing of not giving a fu** don’t do the same?
