Yes the adult siccing the weirdo right wing rage of thousands or millions of people on an individual high school student (under the guise of "protecting high school students") is definitely not an adult in the wrong, very smart takes here as always. That student is now going to receive thousands of threats from other adults who I'm sure won't be in the wrong either

I don’t agree with anyone doing what you are claiming…. There is no issue though if the school system had any common sense at all.

There are a lot of wrongs in this situation… The school allowing him to run against females… The females that were cheated… His/her name being made public… Potential idiots harassing the transgender runner… It all could have been avoided if the school displayed any common sense at all.

They’re not being singled out for just being trans. They’re singled out because they lack self awareness. You can pretend to be whatever you want without affecting other people. Your mental illness shouldn’t require everyone else’s participation.

I agree it’s the adults issue to resolve, it shouldn’t even be an issue.

Part of the problem is pandering to this lie calling he a her, it’s a lie, and the adults referring to him as a her is part of the problem.

You want to dress as a woman fine it’s your life live it however you want, I don’t have to take part by calling him a her especially when he wants to compete in sports against women.

As with ANY OTHER SITUATION in the USA...YOUR rights end when they begin to infringe on ANYONE ELSE'S rights to not have to put up with your crap. Period. That applies to everything from playing music too loud after 10pm and keeping your neighbors up, to drinking and using drugs but not being able to drive intoxicated and endanger everyone else. A person's rights end the nanosecond they negatively affect anyone else. Period.

That is a varsity track meet. Is he a senior? Is he 17yo or even an 18yo adult? Murder someone when you're 16. You will be tried as an adult and can be locked away for the rest of your life. As they should be. If you are old enough to play varsity HS sports...you arent a kid anymore. At 17 years old I had already left home, lived in my own place and had a full time job. Paid my own bills. This isnt a kid.

FYI my son will be 12yo when he joins his varsity swim team in the fall. He'll be top 10 in the county in at least 2 events

Nobody finds it to be alpha. Bullying is never a good thing. It doesn't build character. It doesn't foster anything good regarding the social contract. It just validates flawed people to perpetuate sh*tty behavior because they refuse to accept things they can't understand.

Awesome! I was a swimmer. My sister was captain of the UGA swim team and won a natty. Don't know what events he does but be hyper vigilant on over training at his age. Really can screw up shoulders

Congrats to your boy. My son and I both played early too but surely not at 12. My post was a question first, then a conditional statement based on him being 17 or 18 years old. I bet hes not 12....dont you? I bet running varsity HS track and setting a record that hes probably 16 to 18 years old wouldn't you? A girls HS varsity sprinter in the 200 is gonna be damn fast right? What do you think PJ?

The problem is Oregon. This is their rule for men wanting to compete in women's sports:

Additionally, the OSAA rules state that "once a transgender student has notified the student's school of their gender identity, the student shall be consistently treated as that gender for purposes of eligibility for athletics and activities, provided that if the student has tried out or participated in an activity, the student may not participate during that same season on a team of the other gender."
