It looks like an update to a 30yo existing law that now treats hetero and homo the same.

In a previous bill passed in California in 1944, judges were allowed to make this call, but it only applied to vaginal intercourse with a minor. Now, this new bill allows judges to expand the law, adhearing to homosexual actions.

I don't see that as invalidating what was included. Sexual crimes against a minor "only" 10 years younger doesn't require registry. I don't know why including homo actions excludes it from being true.

ok, so your disagreement is that we/California is already further down the slippery slope than we thought, so that disproves his assertion that we are on a slippery slope?

I just don't see how you being "right" changes anything here. its a bad look now, its a bad look 30 years ago. them updating it shows its a law on the books worth updating, and not one of those holdover laws that no one even references.

I mean I really think you should be blaming South Park for people not taking it seriously, not a thread on VN. Ike is far younger than any story I have seen in that thread. pretty sure the thread even references that episode multiple times.

personally I find it very disturbing that ANY ACT WITH A MINOR doesn't immediately lead to being registered; and further that the state of California felt like its current allowance of acts with minors wasn't enough and they had to codify an expansion of those allowances.

it doesn't raise a question that California felt the need to update/expand this law to be more forgiving? My understanding of the text is that homo actions with minors wouldn't have the allowance to avoid the sex registry before this update. so this update expands the allowances for sexual acts with a minor. why do that?

I can't speak for everyone in that thread, but that is exactly the subject of the episode of South Park. Stan tries to report the teacher for having sex with his younger brother, the cops don't care because he is a guy, and she is hot.

It is. Instead of using body orafices as a reference I’ll just use pink and blue. For 30 years this law allowed a rapist to avoid the preditor list if a “pink” victim was less than 10 years apart. The law has now been changed to include a “blue” victim. To me that’s worse because it allows more rapists to avoid the registry.

I would have no rapists avoiding the registry. I would rather have a quarter of rapists avoiding the registry than half of the rapists avoiding it and so on and so on. This makes things even worse if I’m reading it correctly. To do it under some anti-discrimination motive is so insane to me that either I’m taking crazy pills or they are.
