The Rap/Hip-Hop thread

Twitter fighting like some high school *****es all in the name of publicity.

I liked Kwelis music but him on Twitter is unbearable. I want to literally blow him up and call him out on his dumbass posts but I have never done that on social media before and I could just unfollow him.

I was talking about Drake and Meek Mill.

Talib got offended that Bomani likes Big Boi more. Which is totally understandable but apparently completely lost on Kweli.

Talib is a better lyricist, so if that's why he's mad I can see it, but on mass appeal he really doesn't have anything to say.

On his contribution to music he's got nothing to say. I like Talib, I respect him and his talent but Big Boi was part of something that changed music.

Drake. Kendrick destroyed him with the BET cypher.

I hate Drake so much.

By calling him sensitive like literally every other person alive?

I'm not a big Drake fan either, but I give credit where it's due. His success dwarfs pretty much every other rapper's and there aren't many ways to criticize him that haven't been used 1000 times already. At this point, people calling him "soft" make me roll my eyes, because he essentially conceded that point years ago.

MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice have mass appeal.

Mass appeal means jack squat.

However, Talib has really been showing his feminine side lately... and I'm a fan.

Oh, thats because this is the hip-hop thread... not trash rappers thread.

It's actually the rap/hip-hop thread, but good point, let's ban all discussion about 2 out of the 10 most currently relevant rappers because it isn't "real hip-hop" enough for your personal taste.

I think J Cole is a better Drake honestly. He has the harder stories to tell but still the soft side. Best of both worlds honestly.

Friday Night Lights was also a fire mix tape. Quality wise top to bottom it was as good or better than Take Care IMO.

He did more than call him sensitive. His popularity isn't indicitve of his talent but an indictment against the masses. Boy bands sold a ****ton of records, yet their music sucked. Drake, to me, is no different. I think he's a whackass fraud.

J. Cole can pull the sing-songy hooks like Drake can, difference is, dude can really spit and he produces his own ****.
