The Remaining Games And The Road To Hoover

Auburn won the first game of the series on Friday, Mizzou won the make up game to day, and is leading in the finale 4-1 with just 1 more at bat for AU.

So much for my thought.
Anytime I'm out of pocket I screw it up.

Arky vs. UGA was rained out...Mizzou and Auburn have 1 game lead over us at this point, updated.

Added TAMU to the original post...on the warrennolan website, they have the game with Bama today down as a loss, is that correct?

Never mind...

Remaining Games for UT, Mizzou, UGA, Auburn and TAMU...

Tennessee 6-15

vs. Georgia
at Arkansas
vs. Texas A&M

Missouri 7-14

at Texas A&M
at Alabama
vs. Kentucky

Georgia 4-16

at Tennessee
at South Carolina
vs. Florida

Auburn 7-14

vs. Ole Miss
at Florida
vs. Arkansas

Texas A&M 7-13

vs. Missouri
vs. LSU
at Tennessee

this schedule definitely favors us. Mizzou may not win another game. Auburn has only top-tier teams remaining. Aggies need a sweep against Mizzou, w/ LSU coming to town the next week.

The problem is TAMU is on a pretty good skid, 1-9 in their last 10...so this week TAMU and Mizzou have each other and we have Georgia at home where we've lost 8 in a row.

Seems like I say it every week, but this is a huge week for our Hoover chances, we simply must take care of UGA this week, have to.

I think you're right regarding Auburn, they may be the team to watch...UGA could sweep us and they'd still finish last, so it's really about that 13th spot and Auburn has a tough road.

May even need a sweep this weekend but anything less than 2 of 3 vs UGA could be fatal to the Vols chances for Hoover.

I like our chances.

One game out of a 3-way tie for tenth . . . two home series against the last place team and one of the teams we're chasing . . . hold the tie breaker against another team we're chasing . . . the third team we're chasing has the toughest remaining schedule.

We only have to catch one of them. If we win the Georgia series, we will either be tied or ahead of the loser of the Mizzou-aTm series. Just have to take care of business against a struggling Georgia team.

Now I'm trying to forget that finishing 12th and making Hoover doesn't get us closer to an NCAA regional than we were last year when we finished 12th and didn't make the 10-team field.

So, how soon before we start talking about flipping the rotation back for the aTm series so Godley is ready to pitch the first day of the conference tournament?

updated...We're in a terrible situation now.

I think our best, most realistic scenario is to finish 3-3, with Mizzou finishing 2-4. Perhaps we can win one at Arky and win 2/3 at home against TAMU, and have Mizzou lose 2/3 at Bama and then lose 2/3 at home vs UK. I think we'd be 9-19, and Mizzou would be 9-21. If we had gotten a game in today and won, we'd be able to finish 2-4 and be ahead of Mizzou (if they finish 2-4).

one more Mizzou rain out would bring the tiebreaker back into play. But I think we're screwed now. I think A&M has been sandbagging all season and we just stink in final all-on-the-line weekends.

I'm sorry. Mizzou has played 2 more games. so they need 2-more rainouts. Not likely

I'm wondering what others think. Godley will have two more starts, will we flip the rotation back so that he's pitching on Sunday?

I don't think it's fair to count on him for two wins, but that's probably what he'll have to do for us to make it to Hoover. Mizzou got swept today, but we can't count on them to lose every game, we MUST win a couple of games.

Losing to UG on Friday, , coupled with the rain out, makes it a bar room brawl now. This team better show more fight if they want to give themselves a shot from here on out. GBO!

IMO he should start on Sunday. Hope he gets 2 wins and steal one more to get us in.

Start Godley on Sunday and hope Williams can get at least one win on a Saturday. The bad thing is that puts you in a must win on the last Sunday but I think that's the best shot to get in.

The Razorbacks series is I think is a little harder than the Gators series.
So it would be major if we could win 2/3 from the Razorbacks, and the Mizzou Tigers get swept or lose 2/3 to the Crimson Tide.
Although that unlikely like I would say 10 percent chance of happening, 2nd best would be don't get swept win 1 out 3 vs the Razorbacks, and Tigers swept by Razorbacks.

The Volunteers in the final 2 weeks of SEC games must play their best Baseball, and the Mizzou Tigers lose vs Crimson Tide and UK Wildcats unable to protect the lead.

Looks like they aren't going to flip the rotation back, Godley is pitching tonight.

Tamu beat LSU yesterday, 2-1

Missouri has the easier road, if the Vols want to get to Hoover, they need at least 1 win this weekend against a top 15 foe. We also have to hope Alabama(YUK) sweeps Mizzou.

Well, #TAMU and #LSU Game 2 has been suspended until 9:30 a.m. in the morning …. What a bizarre decision by the #SEC to go that early.
