The Rock/Metal Thread

something completely different for most of yall, I present the so called Gregorian Metal.

people may want to skip into about 2 minutes into it if you aren't into some different instrumental music.

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain is retiring. Damn! This is truly the end of an era! I'm so glad I got to see them live twice! Here's to you Nicko! A great career and a well-deserved rest!

I love how subdued this song sounds. It's like they want to break out a Halleluwah-like jam, but someone is napping in the next room. This song literally haunts my dreams, so maybe it's me :)

Damn! Former Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, and Blue Murder guitarist John Sykes passed away from cancer! I am absolutely gutted! He was easily one of my top 5 favorite guitarists and a big influence on my own playing! He captured maybe THE best guitar tone ever in hard rock! So sad to hear this! R.I.P. brother!

Any list, (top 20) of best guitarists, any genre, of all time that doesn't include Roy Clark is flawed as hell.

I just watched some of his work after a suggestion from friend who plays guitar......... Said he's convinced he was one of the best 10 guitarists all time........ After watching I can't disagree.

Impressive....... But watching him manipulate a banjo and guitar in a similar manner I think with a little training Roy could do this. His natural aptitude for technicality and transitions was excellent.

I've never listened to this particular band before. I won't say it's not my style because I don't really have one. I just like different music with excellent musicianship and vocals. And I'm always late to the party, I don't give things a chance because I hate trendy.

I know it's a different genre than your example but it reminds me of something I watched recently.

I remember watching a documentary recently interviewing thrash metal bands and one mentioned how much appreciation they had for bluegrass banjo players...... He said it's basically the same cadence and technicality involved. He said if you swapped instruments it would sound basically the same.......I never really have that consideration but now that I've heard that I can't un-hear it.

I have watched this every day since it came up in my feed. If I heard this first, I wouldn't have guessed there are no guitars. They never released an album and just focused on their live show. Mr. Peepers's dance kills me, but this had to be the rare take where he doesn't kick everything over in that tiny space.
