The Runner's thread

Ran 7 miles for the first time in my life today...don't even want to tell anyone how long it took though!
Nice! During lockdown, quit lifting. CV was just my excuse to stop lifting. Body was breaking down.

Got down to below 200, and started running again. Got to my goal of 3 miles...granted it wasnt the time I like. Got sick. Wasnt the Covids...back to walking and running, mostly walking.

Good job man.

Mapping out an 8 mile route for next week. I’ll do four miles a few times this week. I dread it every morning but enjoy it one I’m out there.
Hardest step is the one out the door

Still fighting plantar fasciitis over here. I’m getting walks in, but no running

I have a terrible hill in the first mile of one of my routes, and it’s always been a pain for me. It’s basically .5 of the first mile, and it’s fairly steep. It always gets in my head, and I pace myself. Well today I got mile one in 8:35, and that’s the first time I’ve finished that mile in less than 9 min. so I decided on a 5k for time. Second mile 7:49 and 3rd mile 8:01.

I’m up to 3 miles. I’ve ran 2 miles in under a 9 min per mile pace. That third one though, things slow down haha. Goal is to get back to 5 miles in under 9 min/mile pace by summer and then start long distance training back up. Only have occasional discomfort (I wouldn’t even call it pain anymore). Hopefully I’m putting this ankle injury and Plantar fasciitis behind me.

I don’t understand the hoopla behind this Tom Brady guy. He’s never ran a marathon. Never even ran a half. What’s so special about him?

Anyone do Any CHKM races? My fiance and I walked the 5K last night, and I ran the half this morning. Not good weather, but not the worst. I haven't looked at my official time yet, but I think I'm around 1:52. Slower than my personal best, but I'm happy if I'm under 2 hours.

Ended up doing the Full on Sunday. My goal was to finish and that's what I did.

Any suggestions on ways to improve your time? Thinking of trying again in March

I'm training for he Music City Half Marathon. I had never done more than 3.1 miles and am now up to 7. Right knee is in pain and swelling, left calf is strained and achilles is sore. I am going to try to get in a 9-10 miler tomorrow morning but haven't ran since Monday when I strained my calf. I'm running for my mental being. I've had a rough last 6 months and running helps me to get by.

The Rock N Roll one?

If so, that's a tough run. It's been my slowest half time by a wide margin.

Yes. I am just looking to finish it since it is my first one. I like a good challenge we looked at doing others but they say this one will wreck you. I just need it mentally.

I was usually in the 1:45 range for my half's. I was over 2 hours for both Nashville Rock N Rolls.

4 fulls and I don’t know how many halves. A friend has been working on my medal track so I can expand it for over a year now. If I ever get it back, I’ll count all the halves. At least 15 though
