No, Bush needs to quit trying to please everybody with being politically correct (i.e. when it comes to the islamic terrorists we are battling right now; appointing people to office to please opposite party members).

He needs to cut the damn spending!!

Wasting our tax dollars in a lot of ways.  He's not the greatest, nor the worst President we've ever had.

and do away with that bs tax reform panel;

but this forum is not about politics. its about the vols.

i agree sanders should have been demoted or replaced at the end of this season, but some people act like he's the only one that needs to be demoted or replaced, as if everything were on his shoulders. the coaching staff has done a terrible job as a whole and needs to be accountable. the players (somewhat a reflection of their coaching) haven't been up to par either. part of i believe is that they were overrated in the first place. the other part is that the multiple problems that have been building up over the past several years have caught up with the team. i felt Sanders was a decent (not great, not horrible) play caller. Player development along with many other factors is where his downfall probably was. But I'm just making a point that he isn't the only one that needs to be held accountable.

And no! my last name isn't Sanders. It's Fulmer. Just kidding.

Considering it's what we always do and being so predictable defenses can always plan for the predictable. This 'conservative attitude' attitude has been what's cost us so much this season. Three and outs may be the "safe" thing to do but it keeps the defense on the field MUCH more than they need to be. yes they are our strength. But they are not superhuman. They cannot keep playing 40+ minutes of the game every game and expected to stay tough and focused. We choked against UGA, UA, and USC late in the game defense-wise because our guys are wearing out. Three and outs take two minutes off the clock and give the D no time to breathe before going out there again and again. Conservative football is predictable and it's wearing out our D. Try some razzle dazzle play no one knows we'll ever pull. It's like playing conservative in poker. Everyone thinks that's the way you are and settles on it. Then when you have them lulled, sack up like you have a pair and do something unexpected. We have the most vanilla, predictable team not only in the conference but the country.

No, what's cost us most of the season is that fact that we are often in 3rd and 14 in the first place. A good drive is doing well on 1st and 2nd down. You always want 3rd and short, because any play call is feasible, and the defense cannot "predict" what you will do. I agree Sanders is often predictable, which is why his playcalling isn't "great" just decent.

Razzle Dazzle is the last thing you do when you have a team that cannot execute the basic fundamentals. I'd second that if we no longer had anything to play for, which is the case now. So in that respect, you are right.

With Clausen our options on 3rd and whatever have always been limited. Everyone knows he can't get the ball out far and his throws are soft. So if he throws they will be soft and short. This gives the defenders a chance to buch up short, perhaps blitz, and perhaps have good plays on the ball deflecting or intercepting. As far as running we always run up the middle. Basically with our predictability the defense knows they can crowd the short distance and either blitz or have better plays on the ball. Knowing our options are limited, they can focus on stripping, tipping, or intercepting. We make their job much easier and even the dumbest player out there could become an instant Einstein and make some magic play.
