The Season That Starts It All

Taking a second glance at those predictions, I think the OP has a great deal of faith in UT's offensive personnel picking up a brand new system.

34 points against a Clowney-led SCarolina defense? That's pretty ambitious.

We're not beating USCjr. Everyone said they were overrated last year and all they did was go out and win 11 games. It ain't hapnin.

i am in agreement with you.

this season, the tennessee offense makes the florida offense look good by comparison

Not to mention the OP's faith that we will hold down an Oregon team that averaged 50 points a game last year to 27.

For the first time in at least 8 years I truly believe no SEC east team will out coach our staff and most of the SEC west also....health and the fight in our soldiers on the field will be the question this season.

We will go 6-6 and play in a crap bowl on Dec 27th. That's if we are lucky. We are 2 years away from making noise....minimum.

our offense is almost assuredly not going to put up huge points, but the wildcard is in the running game. if we can establish a run game, it will hide our inexperience at WR some, keepour D off the field as well as opposing offenses. that coupled with catching a team on a bad day or a lucky turnover may net us 1 or 2 unexpected wins.

what gets me is that so many think our offense last year was all bray and the receivers, when in fact it was 25% bray 25% the receivers and 50% the offensive line.

we still have that o-line and its one of the best in the nation, our offense will be a lot better than people think.

more important is that we wont have to rely on big plays this year to survive.

50% of that offense is gone, not even factoring Rivera. thats a big loss for any offense.

OP either has a lot of time on his/her hands or has quite the gift as a soothsayer.

All I know, is if we can play Oregon and FL combined within 2 points, we should give Butch a lifetime contract.

Will the other 50% be unmanned? Unproven != untalented.

I'm not saying we'll be world beaters. But others seem to be implying that we have nothing but scrubs coming in and we should just lay down now to save the trouble.

hope I'm wrong, but I only see 5 wins possibly 6 (Austin Peay, Western Ky, S. Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky. The 6th would be against either Auburn or Vandy, but I don't think we win both. There are going to be many ups and downs, flashes of a great offense, but I think we all need to look at the situation and temper our expectations.

Barring major injuries to key personnel, on each and every Saturday this Fall that the Vols are playing I WILL EXPECT them to post a "W"...

Not that I agree with the OP but Clowney was held to 1 big play in 2012 game...Of course it cost UT the game, but at that time Tiny was playing injured

I think we'll be better this year than we were last year. I think we might be pretty good. Sorry if that offends some of you. I forgot we're supposed to suck around here.

I appreciate the sentiment, OP! Right now, I'm saying 9-3. We'll win all 7 we're supposed to and 2 of the 5 we aren't. I'll be realistic once the season starts and I've had a chance to actually watch the team play. Until then, I prefer to be optimistic! :loco:

Go Vols!
